CDS has wrapped its 4th annual NYU AI School, introducing AI to undergrads from schools across NYC. With a goal of making AI education accessible to all, 61% of attendees were from non-CS majors, and the program covered ML, vision, & NLP. Till next year! nyudatascience.medium.com/ny…

Couldn’t agree more. A must read. I appreciate it’s hard to make complex ideas accessible and it’s nicely done!

This is going to change how you use Jupyter Notebooks. I've always worked as part of a team, and collaborating on a notebook with somebody else is as painful as it gets. I remember building a file structure for my team to work on the same projects without touching each other's notebooks. This has always been the biggest downside of Jupyter Notebooks. GitHub recently improved notebook versioning and diffs. It's a significant step, but there are still issues with large notebook diffs, rendering Matplotlib charts and interactive components, and, most importantly, no way to comment on notebook diffs! Here is the alternative: @ReviewNB. It's a free tool for open-source projects. Here is what you get: • Rich notebook diffs • It helps review pull requests and commits • You can write comments on specific notebook cells or code lines • Integrated directly with GitHub and BitBucket • No vendor lock-in (every comment is posted directly to GitHub) ReviewNB is one of the apps approved by GitHub and listed on their marketplace. I didn't know this, but Apple, Meta, AirBnB, Spotify, and NASA JPL are some companies using ReviewNB. You can use the tool for free if you work in public repositories or academia. Check it out here: reviewnb.com/ Thanks to the team for showing me the tool and partnering with me on this post.

The borough of Queens and our entire city mourn the loss of Paul Vallone, a true public servant and New Yorker. A true son of Queens, he upheld a family legacy through his service in the armed forces, the New York City Council, and the New York City Department of Veterans Services. Throughout his time in office, the blue collar community he represented knew they had a fighter from the neighborhood representing them in City Hall. In that role and as a member of our administration, he was a committed advocate for veterans — serving those who have served our country. It was an honor to serve alongside him, and I know New Yorkers will join me in keeping the Vallone family in your hearts today.
