Solar generation by CfD is a trivial portion of overall generation. Total Net Payments FROM solar to date (7 May 2026) of £0.67m, are tiny compared to the total Net payment TO all generators of £13,239.33m to date.
Solar on government CfD contracts is paying money back. Those subsidies that Reform and the anti-net zero lot keep bleating about are currently offsetting the high gas prices by paying back money.

UK energy policy is economic self-harm. Labour banning new North Sea drilling licences fracking — right as the Strait of Hormuz crisis hits. Yet oil & gas extraction is one of our MOST productive industries. A thread (1/10)

80% of our energy is fossil. And will be for a long time. You talk as if electricity is all that matters. You sound like an idiot.

Essentially, Labour has put Britain into a political stasis for the next three years. There's nothing in their policy cupboard that won't make matters worse, so their only option is to do nothing much. That's as good a reason as any for retaining Starmer. He is the perfect man for the job. A bland, visionless functionary will go through the motions until it's time to call an election. Too bad the rest of us just have to watch the country burn - just because Labour is too dishonourable to relinquish power they have no idea how to use.

Government policies make steel manufacture non-viable. Government buys steel plants, tax payers subsidise non-viable manufacture.

Yesterday, @EnergyUKcomms caught a bad case of Net Zero Derangement Syndrome by claiming that removing carbon taxes will increase bills. A thread (1/n)

Worth a read... If the subsidies exceed the build cost then this is a massive wealth transfer from consumers to developers @ClaireCoutinho
The Government said they reduced the indexation rate for renewables because they'd been over-compensated. That's not even half the story. New analysis shows wind farms have already received more in subsidy than the build cost, enriching overseas investors. A thread (1/n)

There's no wind generation that costs 5p/kWh. In fact there are several CfD-subsidised units getting over 22p/kWh, for example Burbo Bank Ext, Dudgeon and Walney Extension. Many ROC-subsidised units getting even more than that. That's before backup, grid balancing and expansion costs.

2/ Britain still prices almost all electricity at the marginal cost of gas, even when most of it comes from cheap wind or solar. Wind generation: ~5p/kWh What you actually pay: 25p/kWh That massive gap is baked into the system.

The 32 GW wind fleet is currently producing 0.64GW. Solar nothing at all. Got to be a record epic fail for intermittent renewables.
Another record breaking day for clean power! Every single new zero-carbon records is a step towards protecting the British public from fossil fuel price spikes and confirmation we are taking back control of our energy security at home.

21:30 electricity demand is 30,490MW. Solar and wind are producing just 710MW between them. So let's get rid of fossil fuels eh? The brain rot infecting those in power in the UK is terrifying.

Ember, the people who came up with Miliband's promise to cut bills by £300 have been torturing the data to claim renewables saved money in March. Record CfD subsidies for March of £258m tell a different story. We're witnessing the dying embers of Net Zero propaganda (1/n)

Here’s the choice the Turing scheme offered ? Compare the choice for students between that & Erasmus. The U.K. has 3 Unis in the world top 10, one at 23 24 Russell Group Unis. The EU has one at 30. Here’s how popular Erasmus was for the U.K. Still want to welcome it?
Chart of the Day 🤓 Some people believe that young Brits have been unable to study in the EU since the UK left Erasmus. In reality, the UK's post-Brexit Turing scheme supports placements all around the world - including in Europe, but with many other options... (1/3)

Net zero advocates love to claim renewables are cheaper than gas by waving around Levelised Cost of Energy (LCOE) models from Lazard, IRENA, and the UK Government’s Generation Cost 2025 report. But these models are junk. Here’s why. (1/19)

The outrage from the Green lobbyists today who want to deny us tax revenues and Jobs from the North Sea plus increased gas secure supplies for our 22m domestic gas boilers just as we may exploit Jackdaw tells you everything about their motives.

This can't be right. Why aren't they paying the global gas price?
US nat gas at 6-month low (!!!) While the rest of the world worries about the impact of the US-Iran war on energy costs, American gas consumers enjoy a bonanza. Benchmark US nat gas (Henry Hub) just ended the day at $2.819 per mBtu, the lowest settlement price since September.

There. Is. No. Global. Price. For. Gas. How often do you need to be told this? What’s the Henry Hub price today? What’s the UK price today? Are they the same … or even close? Let me tell you, for April 2026 contracts. Henry Hub, right now: $2.87/MMBtu UK NBP right now: $16.79/MMBtu So UK prices are 5.8x US prices. I don’t like calling people liars but you must know this, so what else is there to say?

It is 100% reliant on gas. Renewables are simply temporary displacement. Without gas, there would be no renewables. Gas still forms the foundation of our electricity.
