Darren’s last line: ‘Almost like defence wins in the playoffs.’ For a yr he has been disputing this fact and now he drops it to deflect from the fact that Marner was shut down. WE ALL KNEW that defence wins in playoffs. $12m on soft winger was a huge mistake by McCrimmon.

MacKinnon went 0-2-2 in 4 games while watching his team, the best in hockey get swept in the conference final. 97 & 29 both shut down and back to back finals. Eichel shut down by the Canes. Almost like defence wins in the playoffs.

So Eichel and Marner did not make themselves available to the media after losing last night? Guess only the Vegas leaders showed up to answer questions & take accountability for the team's finals shortcoming Leaders are going to lead. I figured Eichel was a leader, guess not!

Imagine believing that a team that won the cup 36 months ago couldn't reach final without Marner? Marner, the guy who has never played beyond 2nd round was the reason the 10 cup winners on Vegas got to the finals again. Fandom is blinding Ignorance is bliss.

We also know Vegas doesn’t get to the final without Marner. We also know that a Pietrangelo level D was not available to Vegas.

Revisit my Stanley Cup criteria Team must have 2 playoff series wins in 3 yrs prior to winning cup. Canes became 20 of 21 in cap era to meet criteria Going into next season Panthers 8 Canes 7 Oilers 6 Vegas, Stars 4 Avs 3 NYR, Habs 2 One of them is winning cup next season.

It was Canes, not the Oilers, but the same holds true. Vegas didn't address the Hague move & Pietro injury, instead spent $12m on a player they didn't need & has tendency to disappear when things get hard. Vegas ignoring the loss of Hague and Pietro cost them in finals. IYKYK

Vegas made a critical mistake this week. Needed to replace Pierto and keep Hague. They worsened themselves with respect to trying to win a cup. They got dummied by Oilers and will be even less equipped yo deal with Oilers next playoffs.

Staal’s first shift of the playoffs was a 3 second shift in which he accepted a fight challenge on home ice from opposing captain Brady Tkachuk. That day I asked how many captains take that fight. Today he is cup champ AGAIN and oldest winner of Conn Smythe ever. Beast.

Unlike you and this NHL player the NHL has a strong understanding that the NHL doesn’t have a franchise like the Knicks. NHL will never get that type of airtime for a cup winner.

Knicks win the Larry O’Brien on the road after a great 16-3 playoff run. Tomorrow night the 15-3 Canes are on the road looking to win the Stanley Cup. What a weekend for sports.

And Avs only have 4 D under contract and have two RFAs needing extensions, one being Drury. My guess is they try to move off Nichushkin ($6.125m AAV) and limited no trade protection. Nelson ($7.5m AAV) would be an option but he has full trade protection for next season.

Shaping up as one of the best cup finals ever. In Carolina. Teams split Goals 8-8 In Vegas. Teams split Goals 9-8 Canes All 4 games tied at some point in 3rd 2 games decided in OT 1 OT, 1 regulation win for each team Multiple goal leads given up in every game. Great hockey.
