"It’s an outdated trope, and it has an impact." This Halloween, we’ll see villains in films and costumes using scars or visible differences to look "scary." It's time to change that.
Our #IAmNotYourVillain campaign calls for more heroes & sidekicks with visible differences. 🦋
Looking forward to this! I originally wrote and created comedy drama Face It - Abbey, starring Abigail Cruttenden, for BBC iPlayer as part of Quarantine in Culture. Happy that it will help mark World Menopause Day… so important to discuss those issues.

ALT Walker pushes for disabled writer representation in writers rooms
Co-chair of our Equality and Diversity Committee Miranda Walker (right) was speaking on a Children's Media Conference panel this week about diverse storytellers and how they must tell and produce their own stories.
Walker shared her passion for representing disabled people on screen and stressed the importance of creating content where disabled characters are portrayed as active, multi-dimensional characters, as seen in her work on the children's TV show MixMups. She also highlighted the importance of consulting with diverse voices to ensure authentic representation… After, Walker said, "It was fantastic to have the opportunity to highlight the importance and value of including disabled writers in writers’ rooms – something WGGB has called for, and which the Equality and Diversity Committee actively supports through its work. The session was warmly received, and the response from industry professional heartening.”

Felt privileged to be on the @WFTV_UK jury for the Kay Mellor Screenwriters’ Lab. Kay was one of my writing heroes. Made me think people might be interested in what I wanted to write. Great to see the selected writers celebrated in an industry showcase last night. So much talent!
