The Wrestling world has lost an incredible friend and storyteller. Barry Blaustein passed away earlier today. Barry had been bravely fighting Parkinson's disease for several years, but lost his life due to a late stage diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Barry was not just an incredible writer and filmmaker who wrote some of the most iconic and hilarious scenes in the history of film, but to me and tons of people like me he will forever be loved for the incredible storytelling he did in the world of Pro wrestling.
Barry wrote, produced, and directed "Beyond the Mat", which is and forever will be one of the most important pieces of media ever done about the world of professional wrestling. Barry managed to do the impossible. He found a way to convey the unexplainable love that so many of us have for this crazy world of professional wrestling. I was thrilled that he found his way to "Cheap Heat" and that he listened to us weekly while continuing to watch the product up until the very end. Barry gave us all an amazing gift and we as wrestling fans owe him a debt of gratitude. God bless you Barry Blaustein. It was an honor to know you my friend.
