So, I’ve got my critiques of how identity politics gets weaponized in certain political spaces, right? But it’s not like these anxieties come out of thin air they come from concrete things, like real institutional racism in the world. But here’s the thing: anti-Semitism doesn’t operate structurally in the West. Jewish people aren’t being structurally discriminated against there’s no fear of pogroms, no police or state mechanism targeting them. Meanwhile, actual pogroms are happening in places like Lebanon, westbank and Gaza. But for some reason, we’ve got this abstract fear that anti-Semitism is rising when it doesn’t actually exist in any structural way in the West.
it’s precisely this that provoked me this obserbation. sam, who i am vaguely familiar with, abhors Black elite identity politics. went on a multi-day tirade just recently. but does not see the irony of deploying idpol’s primacy in defense of jewish innocence!
