If you had to catch someone up on the most important ideas/articles/accounts/happenings in baseball analytics since covid, what would you make sure to include?

My mind immediately went to "I wonder what kind of new pitches humans could throw with another thumb!!!" Then it went to Antonio Alfonseca 😂

Cambridge researches developed a “third thumb” device that is operated by pressure sensors under the foot. Sounds pretty unintuitive to use but they ran a test with 600 subjects (age 3 to 96) and 596 (99.3%) were able to pass the grasping tests in minutes. Looks like anyone that wants to peel a banana with one hand will soon be in luck. Link: cam.ac.uk/stories/third-thum…

5 lessons I learned in my short time working in MLB R&D right out of college👇 If you you would like to share any lessons from your experience with current or future job seekers in this space, please feel free to add those in the replies!
I decided to write honestly about my personal decision to leave the baseball industry. I hope this piece gives current and future job seekers a more realistic view of what it means to work in R&D and a chance to hear about my experiences in this space! medium.com/there-and-back/wh…

I don't want my latest article to discourage anyone from pursuing their dream. If you read it and still want to give baseball a shot, I would highly recommend applying to be a part of the Twins organization like I was last year. Maybe you'll even get to work with @FMV1992!

The @Twins are kicking off the hiring cycle with a long list of cool intern- and fellowships. One of them will be with me in the Sports Science department (Fellow, Sports Science Research). Details are at the following link: tinyurl.com/twinssportsscien…

As machine learning/mixed models get more complicated, it can admittedly be harder for a coach to know what strings to pull in order to make a player better without accidentally making him worse.

I haven’t thought about baseball in my free time since May. A lot has changed for me since then. Around that time I wrote about the future role of R&D in the front office. I’m not really even sure why, but I’d like to share that piece here and now. medium.com/there-and-back/wh…

In 2018 I went to a Yankees/Red Sox game at Fenway wearing my David Dahl shirsey. Got some strange looks and one guy telling me he’d “NEVAH HEAHD OF HIM” 😂 Would love to see him bounce back in WSH

Nats agree to deal with OF David Dahl. No one really qualifies as Soto insurance but interesting they added a veteran outfielder now.

Sometimes he's Coach Lee, most of the time he's just Dad. @calpolystangs slugger @brookslee22 sat down with Harold to discuss playing for his father, Larry Lee, ahead of the upcoming @MLBDraft.

Bottom 7, Rockies up 1-0, 1st and 3rd, 2 outs vs LAD. Call to the pen. They bring in Jake Bird.

HBP then Wild Pitch to tie the game. Nice.

It seems unusual to see a hitter swing over a high 4-seamer, doesn’t it?
Does he now have Mike Trout’s precious approval to pitch up and in?
