This is going to be a long one, so bear with me. TLDR: Roo Troop will be sunsetting, with plans to fully shut down on October 1st, 2025. Four years ago we set out to build something different for the community. Something that would matter and leave a mark in the middle of all the scams and vaporware that were flooding the space. This is not the post I wanted to write but I am proud of what we built together and grateful for the people who backed us the whole way. We started building the Roo Troop community in September of 2021, and later minted the collection of 5,500 NFTs in January of 2022. We gave out 1/5th of the supply for free to supporters, and sold the rest for a fraction of the normal price at the time. Through the project, we: - Gave away more than $50k in crypto - Distributed over $30k in NFTs through the $ROOLAH shop - Provided $20k in educational opportunities to holders - Created and ran free educational resources and sessions for months - Launched a dozen Web3 tools, most free, with some widely adopted in the space - Brought in countless partnerships and perks for holders - Minted a free companion collection for holders - Co-hosted a sold out club event at NFT NYC with A-list DJs, free for holders - Spoke at multiple conferences around the world - Used our platform to call out scams and bad actors I’m really proud of the value we provided to the community, but to be honest, I’m even more proud of how we, as a community, were able to impact the planet and species we built this project to represent: Together, we: - Bought a plot of land in the Daintree Rainforest to help preserve the Tree Kangaroo (and countless other species!) habitat - Donated nearly 6 figures to Tree Kangaroo preservation - Educated tens, if not hundreds of thousands on Tree Kangaroos and their endangered status These are things we can all carry with pride forever. Despite all we accomplished, our path to long-term sustainability didn’t work out as planned. Minting at a fraction of the market rate in 2022, covering heavy costs, and giving a lot meant we didn’t set ourselves up with the best financial runway. We worked hard to pivot, but in the end, the revenue side never matched the ambition. In hindsight, I would make different decisions, but I can’t change that now. All I can do is say I am grateful for the opportunity to build this with you and I am sorry it did not turn out how we hoped. To my co-founders, our team, community moderators, and managers…thank you for believing in the mission and adapting with me along the way. To the community: the OGs from the mystery animal days, the minters, the whales who bought dozens or even hundreds of assets…thank you for riding with us. Some of you never sold a single Roo even when floors 8x’d. My own family and friends put thousands into the project. That is not something I take lightly and I carry that weight. I hope one day I can make it right for you. October 1st, 2025 will be the official close where we make the Twitter and Discord accounts private. Between now and then we will keep everything open so people can connect, wrap things up, and say goodbye properly. Thank you for making Roo Troop what it was. You’ve been the best damn NFT community I’ve been part of. We built something real, we made a difference, and we did it together. Rooty Roo forever 🌳🦘

Update 🤪💍
Heads up to all you jpeg nerds I won’t be on Twitter this afternoon because I’m going on a date with a REAL GIRL. I wouldn’t expect you to understand but just know she’s real and we’re going out. I’ll be busy with her (a real girl) which I’m sure is hard for you to comprehend.

In Australia with family…had to stop by and see ol boy Kombai. He’s now got a French girlfriend and a little Joey cooking as we speak. Dad & I went in together and made a personal donation on behalf of Roo Troop to make sure they’re taken care of. Rooty Roo forever 🌳🦘

It’s been a very rooty roo growing such a beautiful community together and being a part of something so impactful. I’m personally doing what I can to make sure from a tech side that we sunset things as gracefully as possible for all of our holders. ❤️ #RootyRoo

As for Dive (formerly Seekr), I want to give an honest update here too. The truth is, things aren’t going the way I’d hoped, but I’m not ready to call it quits. Dive has been through a lot of iterations. It started with a mission to build the first on-chain job marketplace, something that would bring transparency and verification to the job market in a way nobody had done before. Since we started, we: - Placed over 400 people in Web3 jobs, 90% of them free to companies - Partnered with global brands - Won a Polygon grant - Built proprietary Proof-of-Experience tech - Launched a free job board used by hundreds of companies - Released a CV generator and optimizer To be transparent, the deadline for the patents on the Proof-of-Experience tech is coming up, and the treasury doesn’t have the capital to cover it. At this point, the original mission for Dive is out of reach. On a personal level, I put every penny of my savings into trying to make it work. A couple of months ago I started something new in stealth (and it’ll stay in stealth for now) just to get myself back to a stable place. Thankfully, it’s going better than I could have imagined and I’m on the right track financially again. That said, I’m not done with Dive. The latest version is already being used by a few universities around the world and distributed through their alumni centers. I’m also bidding on several government tenders to get it into the public sector. I believe this version can make a real impact, but it’s not paying the bills yet, and I can’t give it full-time focus right now. The plan from here is to get myself to a healthy place financially, then slowly but deliberately start putting more time and money back into Dive. To everyone who has invested in or supported Dive, thank you for your trust and patience. To everyone who has used it, thank you for believing in the idea. The story isn’t over. It’s just moving a little slower for now.

Recruiter tip from someone who’s placed 400 people around the world: Twice this month, candidates accepted offers with everything they wanted, signed, and then pulled out days before their start date after their current firms scrambled to counter. It’s natural to feel flattered...but ask yourself: Why now? If the issues were fixable, why weren’t they fixed before you resigned? Counteroffers are often delay tactics, not solutions. Do not trade short-term comfort for long-term growth opportunities.

Not everyone who voted for Trump is a racist, but putting him in power emboldened the worst of humanity. This is who feels protected now.

What’s happening in California right now is crazy. ICE launching military style raids. The President's son openly calling for protestors to be shot. Trump’s America is honestly scary as fuck. Fascism has landed. The rules don’t apply to those in power, and democracy is rotting from the top down. If you voted for this evil administration for a 'better economy' or whatever other bullshit reason, I hope you are regretting it right now. And to my LA friends, stay safe out there.

Let's not forget J6 btw. 140 cops injured, 5 dead, Trump mob pardoned. LA now: 5 cops hurt, none serious, yet protesters face 2,000 troops. One group attacked democracy; the other fights for it. GOP’s double standard is blatant
