The supporters? The players? Or the advertisers? A World Cup match should flow like a river. Instead, we are building dams in the middle of it so commercials can be shown. Not a single ball has been kicked yet, and this is already the picture of the 2026 World Cup: • The Senegal and Uzbekistan delegations were reportedly subjected to invasive searches upon arrival. • One of Africa’s top referees was reportedly sent back despite travelling on a diplomatic passport. • Iraq’s team photographer was denied entry despite holding a valid visa. • Around 90% of Moroccan supporters who had already purchased tickets reportedly had their visa applications rejected. • Multiple members of Iran’s support staff were refused visas. • Switzerland travelled without their star striker, Breel Embolo, after entry issues delayed his arrival. His visa was only granted following significant backlash. • Iran’s team, despite playing all of its matches in the United States, has reportedly been required to base itself in Mexico and fly in and out for games. What's the point of hosting a World Cup if so many of the people who make it a WORLD Cup are struggling to take part?

Ian Wright is an absolute hero for saying how we all feel about this World Cup… “I've just read that the Somalian referee has been denied entry. Every few hours it's another story, another story about fans denied, players denied, officials denied, journalists denied, now refs," Wright said. "You know something I'm laughing but it's not funny, it's actually not funny and something has to be said. Right now, there are tens of millions of Iranians waiting to find out if Donald Trump will exterminate their civilisation. Absolutely hideous. They need our solidarity.

The President of the United States has threatened genocide against the Iranian people. This is an open admission of the intent to commit crimes against humanity. How on earth can the world just sit by and let Trump get away with such depravity? Our own government’s complicity, appeasement and moral failure has brought us to this moment. The Prime Minister must, at a minimum, revoke the use of British air bases for US bombers — and demand an immediate end to the illegal attacks on Iran, now.
