Asked whether the name came from the film Varsha Heerasing, HMRC officer, said "That’s what I’m told, I’ve never seen it myself."
HMRC's lead investigator was questioned at the trial of tax barrister Robert Venables KC. Jurors heard evidence about a 1987 letter disclosing a partnership, concerns over "red risks" in the investigation, and references to Venables as HMRC's "favourite barrister".
