#Roblox believe influencers are the answer to growing a game.
They’re wrong.
Well, sort of…
Yes. Influencers are great. They quickly can get 100,000 people to see your game. But for 100,000 players to be truly valuable to your brand, you need to answer a few questions.
If you answer “no” to any of these questions, rethink your strategy.
1. Is your game verifiably fun? As in, if a random player joins, do they spend a long time in the game or leave in 2 minutes?
2. Do you have an active community for this new player to engage with after enjoying the game?
3. Do you have reliable monetization to make a return on your investment?
With that in mind, let’s consider what we can do to maximize the value of our influencer campaigns such that 100,000 new eyes on our game = 100,000 potential community members.
First, dig deep into your data. If players are joining your game and leaving quickly, more players won’t fix that. Instead, make changes at a rapid pace and constantly keep your eyes on the data. Target that 10 minute playtime average and above. Once your game proves it can hold players, we can focus on getting more of them.
Next, build your community. Create a Discord server and add TRUE value to it. Make it a hub for information, meeting friends, and overall more than just “a place to chat”. Create your own social media with content that allows people to engage deeper in your community. (This will also grow your game, especially on TikTok!!!) Once we have the infrastructure for community, we can be prepared for players to like our game.
Finally, refine your monetization. You’re in this game to make money, so make sure you actually can. Maximize your Average Revenue per DAU so that you can reliably estimate the ROI of influencer campaigns. Make sure there’s room for your biggest fans to support the game financially as much as they want. Once this is done, you can build the internal ecosystem for supporting multiple marketing campaigns with consistent returns.
With these 3 pillars, influencer marketing becomes an incredible tool to grow your game and reach new audiences. The money you put into it makes returns both financially and in a thriving community. You might think these are simple, but they take a lot of time and resources. However, if you can’t accomplish these, then more eyes on your game is not the answer.
