This teacher was in her 28th year of teaching. One day she took a Monster drink away from a female student because they are not allowed to have those in class. That same female student later on accused the teacher of inappropriately touching her. The teacher was put on administrative leave because of that Title 6 complaint. The female student’s mother, who works in the central office, dropped the complaint. Fortunately, there are cameras in the classroom. The day of the supposed incident, the teacher wasn’t even working that day because of her mother’s recent death. The cameras found no evidence of inappropriateness. But here is the kicker. Besides removing that student from this teacher’s classroom, nothing happened to her. No suspension, no expulsion, no punishment, no consequences whatsoever. Nothing was done and that is what the problem is in this day and age. No consequences for children. That student should have received a suspension at the very least. I would even go so far to say she should have been expelled from that school. Even with the truth coming out, sometimes the damage is already done. What would you have done if you were this teacher? Can’t sue the child, sue the parents maybe? What are her options?

Every once in a while, we should have a PD session where all school staff talk about teaching simply. No jargon. No acronyms. No data slides. Just an honest, human conversation about what really happens in classrooms, free from all the pedagogical clutter.

100% …no free advertising. Pay me a monthly ad fee or knock $1000 off.
This woman doesn’t want the car dealership’s logo on her car that she just bought from them. She takes a heat gun and removes the logo. I thought it was just me that it drives crazy but apparently not. If people are going to be driving around advertising for a dealership, shouldn’t the dealership pay you? 💯 Many said they won’t leave the dealership unless they remove it. Also, don’t want the dealership license player frame either. Does the car dealership logo bother you? Have you ever given it much thought? Or, do you think people like that are being ridiculous?

You want to fix education? Let teachers remove kids who make it impossible for everyone else to learn.

Hard truth: Schools cannot fully overcome poor parenting. Teachers are burning out trying to do the jobs of educator, counselor, disciplinarian, and parent all at once. At some point, accountability has to return to the home.

Hey MAGA- If teachers could truly indoctrinate children, 100% of children would be reading on grade level.

This teacher says what schools won’t tell you. Unless your child is in advanced content or lucky enough not to be in an inclusion class, the rigor of general education has disappeared in favor of the special education students. I do not blame the teachers for this. I do not blame the special education students for this. No one benefits. How long will we keep this charade going?
Teacher says there's no longer a difference between special education & general education. He says every teacher is special ed now, what with all the IEPs and 504s. My 2¢: the overly inclusive model is unfair to everyone involved!

Abby made an immediate and indelible professional mark in Pittsburgh upon arrival just a few years ago. Her passionate and insightful coverage of Pitt Athletics, no matter the season, set a lofty bar. And I know her best is still to come!

Just sat through one of my last IEP meetings. Can’t say I’ll miss reading through 20 accommodations that are listed purely for documentation purposes. Most (non-honors) students on my campus receive the same “accommodations” without an IEP: extra time, text-to-speech, check for understanding, hard copy of notes, repeated review, re-do assignment, etc. At this point, there's not a lot of "individualized" in IEP.

Glad @MeghanMcCain isn't my daughter. Shameful.
Replying to @MeghanMcCain
A draft dodger publicly and gleefully mocked your dad’s service record and his sacrifice that few have lived through and you support him. I don’t see how Ryan is wrong here

Funding is NOT the problem...signed, A teacher in the classroom.
So many of our problems could be fixed by properly funding public education.

I’m sorry but watching @espn and @SportsCenter cover the WWE like it’s a real sport has to be rock bottom for the network. How embarrassing. WTAF?!? They used to be the Mecca of sports reporting and analysis. Now they are a joke.

We’ve created a school system where the students who follow the rules get the least attention… because all the energy goes into managing the ones who don’t.

There should be a teacher on every school board… and at every table where education decisions are made. Because right now, we’re making policies for classrooms without the people who actually live in them. You wouldn’t design a hospital system without doctors. You wouldn’t build a plane without pilots. But in education… we leave teachers out of the room

One of the biggest issues in education: The people making decisions about what’s best for students aren’t teachers. Teachers often aren’t even asked. And neither are students or parents.

NEW: a school in northern MI might just be a test case for the anti-screen movement. Educators banned Chromebooks in the middle of the school year. We spent a day: chalkbeat.org/2026/03/25/scr…
