One summer without a senior staff member or key player leaving is all I ask.
🚨 EXCL: Newcastle United head of recruitment Steve Nickson leaving club. Englishman has informed #NUFC of decision - timings still tbc but all parties comfortable with situation. Move to Championship on agenda after 15yrs at St James’s Park @TheAthleticFC nytimes.com/athletic/7362261…

🚨 EXCL: Newcastle United rekindle interest in signing James Trafford from Manchester City. No formal talks yet & complicated by #MCFC goalkeeper wanting to decide future post-WC (may be too late for #NUFC) but desire firm clubs in contact @TheAthleticFC nytimes.com/athletic/7354310…

Big up, Uncle Ian Wright for speaking up, and he's 100% correct. Look how Qatar got dragged when they were hosting the World Cup.

This World Cup is also being played in Mexico and Canada. Assuming he would be allowed to enter(?), FIFA could surely at least make a point of him refereeing games there.
FIFA confirm Omar Abdulkadir Artan can’t officiate at the World Cup after being denied entry into the United States. The Somali referee is one of Africa’s most respected officials. Somalia's Ministry of Youth and Sports say Artan travelled with a valid US visa. Yet Somalia is on a travel ban list introduced by President Trump’s administration. 🗣️ “FIFA is not involved in host country immigration processes, including visa adjudications, and has been informed by authorities that Mr Artan's status will not be changed at present. “In line with previous FIFA events, a host government ultimately determines who receives a visa and who is admitted into their country.”

Qatar 2022 was so special because it was mid-season, players at their peak condition and the games were played in relatively decent conditions. I'm not feeling the hype for this one, especially the games in the US. Mexico is going to do a lot of heavy lifting this tournament
