One of my personal goals is to shift my focus away from explicitly teaching the language and towards teaching students strategies they can use on their own (eg., how to use a dictionary, annotation, paraphrasing, self-monitoring, etc.)

I can't say enough about how much I love using ChatGPT to generate and organize ideas. We like to demonize technology but y'all...that's nothing new and AI is here to stay. It may not be able to think critically but it can do a heck of a lot that would make me tear my hair out.
Understanding and applying the @ConsciousD Brain State Model is essential when working with children because until the underlying needs and missing skills are met – the top tier of setting goals will continue to be really difficult for kids.

Give yourself grace and remember humility: Learn about your teachers' content areas and their experiences. Learn about content areas outside of your own. Remember that what you'll bring to your teachers isn't just your own exp., but also your observations of other teachers.
