Today I had the honor of attending Blythewood Middle School’s Military Child Breakfast, and it was truly a meaningful event. Hearing directly from students about what it is like to be a military child was powerful. Their stories were filled with strength, resilience, sacrifice, and pride. Military children often serve in their own way through constant change, long separations, new schools, and the challenges that come with military family life. They deserve to be recognized and celebrated. Veterans chose to serve but our kids were born into the service of this nation. I also want to thank Principal Mrs. Mazyck and Assistant Principal Mr. Jones for their outstanding remarks and for the care they show these students. It was clear that Blythewood Middle School is intentional about honoring military-connected families and creating a school environment where students feel seen, valued, and supported. There was also another event, students were also able to take part in the Career Fair, which gave them the opportunity to learn about Military Life, REALTOR® Life, and many other career paths. Events like this are so important because they not only celebrate our students, but also help them start thinking about the many opportunities that can shape their future. Blythewood Middle School continues to do a great job creating meaningful experiences for students, and I was grateful to be there and witness it firsthand. @BMSatRSD2 @RichlandTwo #dennis4r2

On Friday the 20th of March 2026 , I had the pleasure of attending the A/B Honor Roll Assembly at Blythewood Middle School. Out of 891 students, 529 made the honor roll that’s 59.3% of the student population in grades 6 through 8. What an outstanding accomplishment by these students and a true reflection of their hard work, dedication, and support from families and staff. After that, I also attended a math information session at the school that gave parents valuable tools to help their students succeed in middle school math and prepare for high school. It was great to see free instruction and guidance being provided through the hard work of teachers and the partnership with Math Nation. Richland Two is doing great things, and moments like these are a reminder of the incredible opportunities available for our students and families. Y1 CarolinaTIP teacher Yzaria Kinsale and Y2 CarolinaTIP teacher Erial Cooper (both of Blythewood Middle School in Richland 2) presented at the recent SCAMLE conference. These teachers were two of four current TIP teachers who, along with multiple TIP Completers were expanding their influence and growing their leadership skills at this state-wide conference!
