I think we have to allow teachers to use judgement when it comes to the rules or do you think we all have to be consistent in enforcing the rules? #ClassroomManagement #TeacherJudgment

Explain Fair vs. Equal for your students. Fair in this classroom means everyone gets what they need to be successful. It does not mean that everyone gets the same thing. Some students may get extra time on a test or a different homework assignment. Equal means everyone gets the same assignment and that wouldn't be fair to some students. Once students understand the difference between these two words, the complaining that "You are not being fair" should stop! #thatonekid #teacher #InclusiveEducation

Top 7 Tips for Managing Students: 1. We can’t control other people, only how you respond to other people. 2. Stay personally connected to students without taking personally what they do or say. 3. Discomfort is the appetizer for growth. You can’t grow without discomfort. 4. We need to listen to students without expectations. 5. Every day is a new day. Don’t hold grudges. 6. Behaviors are not the problems, they are the solutions kids choose to their problems. 7. I have to look at myself for the role I may have played in the situation. #thatonekid #teachers

Principal Gregoire is right—the work we are doing is hard, but kids are worth it. I know @WorthingColts1 students, and all students in HISD, can rise to meet high expectations.
“I’ve not seen this much learning in HISD for the eight years that I’ve been here. Yes, it has been hard—but it’s really good work.” At @HISDSupe's Straight from the Source, @WorthingColts1 Principal Alexandria Gregoire talked about the transformation underway at her campus.

Do students need to take lots of tests to prepare for tests? No. Students need a deep understanding of the curriculum that they can transfer to any setting. Practicing "stress" will not make up for a lack of understanding.
