Students in Year 11 were learning about centripetal force in physics lesson, via the medium of a bucket of water - it worked perfectly and not a drop of water was spilt! #physicslesson @SJLScience

What a fantastic place to have the 2024 @sirjohnlawes conference, and what a way to spend my birthday. What fantastic speakers and workshops, learnt so much from fantastic people.

A final astronomy club observation evening for the year, and what a treat it was. A glorious moonrise and a spectacular view of Jupiter. Below are images of both and time-lapses of their path through the sky @SJLScience

The partial solar eclipse as viewed from the UK today. The path of the moon took it in front of the sun, blocking some of the light. Partial eclipses are much more common than total eclipses.

Queen Elizabeth II's reign spanned all of spaceflight, predating both Sputnik and Explorer 1. As we join the planet in marking her passing, we are moved by the curiosity Her Royal Highness showed our explorers over the years.

👀 Sneak a peek at the deepest & sharpest infrared image of the early universe ever taken — all in a day’s work for the Webb telescope. (Literally, capturing it took less than a day!) This is Webb’s first image released as we begin to #UnfoldTheUniverse: nasa.gov/webbfirstimages/

Thank you to @BayfordburyObs for putting on an excellent evening for SJL’s astronomy club. The students were mesmerised by the planetarium, intrigued by the talk on star formation and loved getting to see and use the telescopes. 🪐🔭
