What a cute and informative story this is! Based on dog and child’s footprints found in Chauvet, France. Loved it. One to use in school for sure. πŸͺ“ πŸ• 🦴 πŸ”₯

Captivating power anthology by @SueHardyDawson today. A delicious mix of funny, descriptive and moving poems. Hard to choose favorites but Grey Ghosts and Old Foxy are up there. 🐘 🦊 🌎 πŸŽ†

Hercules and the Minotaur @tvaughan88 Expect fun and heart in this much-loved diary format. Plenty of Greek Gods and mythical beast and heroes - though not THAT Hercules πŸ˜‚ Includes scuppered and discombobulated which are two of my favourite words!

Dog-sitting. Bought my sister this years ago and only just realised how well it would fit in on a wall in The Eyrie. I do love the Skandar series @annabelwriter

Loved If the Invader Comes @tompalmerauthor @BarringtonStoke Had to Google a few times which is always a good thing. Hope Cilla gets to fly in further books. Heart lifted at seeing Cadan give Mary and Jane a dressing down. Dad - hero and heartbreak!

Got this picture book biography of Theodore Roosevelt for a class in school but learned a lot from it myself. And I can now pick Teddy out at Mount Rushmore.

Sparks or how to give Grandpa a Viking Funeral by Ally Kennen: an intriguing charity shop find that I have enjoyed. Violet Veil Mysteries aside, I haven’t come across an MG book featuring the days after death before - even the chapel of rest. And a carnival! Windows & mirrors!

This was toe-curlingly good. Rather gory and rather brilliant. The style of Masque of Red Death is different - literally drags you along with it - and Bluebeard is a monster of a different kind altogether. Loved it. And it was from Whitby!

Here I am for my stop on the launch of SuperQuesters Mission: Desert Danger. All fun and games again - with a puzzle I could solve this time! Who knew sand dunes move? I didn’t. You can’t beat learning while enjoying a good story imo @QuestFriendz @pauliancross

Wrong apostrophe!! 😒
The Lion’s Run by @sarapennypacker is wonderful. Set in WW2 with a heroine trying to save a horse from the Nazis, it reminded me of Safe and Flight by Vanessa Harbour. ❀️The lebensborn storyline, however, is new to me. πŸ’” Builds to a great ending. 🐴 🦁 πŸˆβ€β¬›

Leave the Trees, Please by Benjamin Zephaniah and Melissa CastrillΓ³n is a deserving winner of the 2026 Margaret Mallett Award for Children's Non-Fiction. It is a lyrical plea to protect nature and the environment, accompanied by vibrant illustrations in a red and green palette.
