Playing “I SPY” with my ELL students.
I SPY a picture on the alphabet chart, they find it, say the letter and sound, and then write it. I will switch up the abc charts so they learn more words and build their vocabulary.
There is so much power in wordless picture books! Kinder Trailblazers were making predictions, inferences and using their imagination to tell the story of a girl and her bear. Check out their speech bubble! 😍 @MrsPerry_kinder@mpruitt1@CFBISD@litcoachburrell 💜💛
Just one day left to order some delicious popcorn and support my amazing school, McKamy Elementary. Money raised will go towards field trips, school events, activities, supplies and so much more. 💜
Partner reading is even more fun outside! It’s been chilly and rainy for several days, so we really needed some sunshine. @McKamyElem@TCRWP#MissionPossible
What a beautiful day to spend outside! We went on a nature scavenger hunt to find living and nonliving things. They had so much fun chasing butterflies, finding ladybugs, spiderwebs, leaves and so much more! #LoveMcKamy#MissionPossible@McKamyElem
Using a Pop It to segment and read CVC words has been an incredible addition to my small group instruction. Pop Its can be used to segment words (not just CVC), counting syllables, counting words in a sentence and so much more! @McKamyElem@TCRWP
Our sound power is getting stronger! We used our shark fin 🦈 (to segment and blend) and word part power to read cvc words in Mabel’s book. #missionpossible@McKamyElem@TCRWP@lizziehetzer
Congratulations to @___MrsWilliams for being named McKamy’s Teacher of the 2nd Nine Weeks!! Thank you for making the #MissionPossible this year, handling everything with a smile, and being a champion for kids! #LoveMcKamy
Reader Man brought magic capes and power pointers for these super readers today. Those magic capes really activated their super reading powers. Look at that incredible pointer power! 💥📚 @TCRWP@McKamyElem#MissionPossible
Instead of “Mic check 1–2, 1-2”, I say “Mask check” and my students respond “1-2, 1-2” and pull up their masks. Today I heard them checking each other by simply saying “1-2, 1-2” if a friend’s mask was not up over their nose. 😷
Mabel surprised these little “word scientists” with their own magnifying glass so that they could study the alphabet chart just like a real scientist. @TCRWP@McKamyElem#MissionPossible
We had so much fun playing 2D shape “Hedbanz” today. They had to ask 3 questions about their shape before they could guess the shape. I loved listening to their questions, hearing math vocabulary and especially all the giggles. #MissionPossible@McKamyElem
What do you do when you can’t decide who gets to read first? Play a friendly game of rock-paper-scissors! I love how well they all communicate with each other during partner activities. #MissionPossible@McKamyElem
