The Miami Marlins today selected center fielder Fenwick Trimble out of James Madison University (Harrisonburg, Va.) with the 122nd overall selection in the 2024 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
Trimble, 21, finished his junior season with a .369 AVG (90x244), 21 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs, 65 RBI, 29 walks, and 16 stolen bases in 61 games. The six-foot-three-inch, right-handed batter last season was named Second-Team All-American by NCBWA, All-ECAC Team, and First-Team All-Sun Belt after leading his team in hits, doubles, AVG, RBI, runs (71), total bases (155), on-base percentage (.452), and OPS (1.088). His 90 hits last season were the most in school history since Jake Lowery in 2011 and his 65 RBI were the most since Chad Carroll in 2013.
The Virginia Beach, Va. native compiled a .332 AVG (222x668), 55 doubles, three triples, 34 homers, and 156 RBI in 169 games with the Dukes from 2022-24.
