After completing the shape trilogy by @macbarnett and @burstofbeaden we brainstormed who that mystery shape could be?! But our running theory is that square is a lot sneakier than we think 😉 Such a fun literacy connection to our geometry unit!

First semester this student struggled with phonemic awareness skills…including rhyming and blending. Fast forward to May and check out this realistic fiction writing…without any teacher help! Explicit phonics instruction works y’all. So proud of this kiddo.

Presenting…Silverbordle! Don’t think I’ll be getting an offer from The NY Times any time soon, but my students LOVED it! It sparked so many discussions about vowel sounds, blends, and many other phonics skills. (I wrote the word on a sticky note to help me with the colors 😂)
