It began as identifying the allusion in “I, Too” by Langston Hughes. It became a compare and contrast activity between “I Hear America Singing” by Walt Whitman and “I, Too” by Langston Hughes. These kids always impress me with their insights! #enrichment #studentledlearning

Time to debate! Can you classify each food item as either a soup, salad, or sandwich? Explain why. Students walked around and categorized various foods— soup, salad, or sandwich? Then they debated in front of the classroom. So, is pizza a soup, salad, or sandwich?

Can animals create art? That is the issue students debated after reading “Monkey Master” this week. They spent time preparing their arguments, anticipating the other-side, and then taking part in a structured debate. This is an impressive group!
