Off to Chester for tomorrow's Rural Bus Summit. I'd forgotten that I could have asked the travel office for my train tickets from Northumberland Park (though to be fair, I did expect to be in Newcastle anyway), but a nice night for a ride in

After Northern to Man Vic and TPE to Newcastle, it was my first direct ride home from Central and my new route home uses the new cycle infrastructure on Preston North Road (such as it is, it's better than what was there before).

It's the time of year when a ride home ending at 23:15 still has light in the sky and meeting the last 301 to Percy Main as I turned into my street. An average ride time rather than fast; with slower pace and further to go it was 45 mins compared to 35 mins at old address

Now I'm living 150m from the Platform 2 foot of this footbridge I'll have to see how many seconds it can shave off a P1 journey compared to the longer walk round to use the footbridge at the other end which (I'll have to measure) but I reckon at least doubles the distance to P1

Important to know because my Just In Timeness means I'll only leave the house when the train is showing as Due on app and as WB is mid point of coastal loop, its 10tph to Newcastle are at 11/1 min intervals on, so if I miss the first it needs a quick hop over the footbridge

(Annoyingly, the earlier train is the Platform 1 train so that would mean doubling back over the footbridge...At least this footbridge delivers you direct to the train doors whereas the ramped footbridge requires walking back along the platform each side)

Today's #KidsGoFree #DaysOutByBus is an epic multi-modal adventure only possible as of yesterday with the launch of the Durham Explorer bus services. Weekends and Bank Hols until end of Aug, three routes take you to the county's most popular sights/venues northstarbus.co.uk/news/arti…

To be different we could have got the Northumberland Line to N'land Park and ridden home to actually make use of the bikes (times didn't work this morning) but that would have cost extra so we're being different by riding to Manors to catch a perfect JIT Metro the other way round

Off at Monkseaton just to be different again with 1.3km to ride instead of 900m. For probably the last time because on Friday I'll be moving to my new house next to Whitley Bay Metro. Today's modes: Cycle 4km, Metro 28km, Train 44km, Bus 130km, Walk 4km.
