IMBARAGA (STRENGTH) The lake does not ask their names. It only opens its waters, and they cross. Morning after morning, evening after evening, they glide between hills and horizons, carrying their loved ones , stories, dreams, and the weight of another day. In a world where too many women are taught fear, they answer with movement. They do not conquer the water; they belong to it. And sometimes, watching them disappear into the distance, I imagine that the lake is their sky. That their boats are wings. That every crossing is a lesson in freedom. Their strength is not loud. It does not announce itself. It lives in the rhythm of their journeys. IMBARAGA is a tribute to the women of Burera District, women who teach us that strength is not the absence of struggle, but the decision to keep moving through it. Inspired by the women of Lake Burera, Rwanda. June 14th, 2026 Note: I am not a professional photographer. I am a storyteller with a Sony camera for memories.

Archive — Museum Ingabo During our time at Museum Ingabo, we had the privilege of engaging in many meaningful conversations with delegates who visited to learn more about our country. This group of delegates from Arusha, Tanzania 🇹🇿 toured the museum as part of a visit organized on behalf of the @CityofKigali . Sharing our history, culture, and stories with visitors from across the world remains one of the most rewarding aspects of our journey.

Archive - 2025 @MuseumIngabo Art and storytelling, while sharing our own history, were the reasons I created a museum. Through teaching and preserving our collective memory, especially the painful history of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi, we sought to create a space for learning, reflection, and dialogue. Welcoming students from around the world and sharing these stories with them has always been one of our greatest motivations to keep moving forward. @alueducation @UofWA

I had the great pleasure of sharing with students from @sciencespo on their project, “Kwibukast,” alongside distinguished educators and researchers such as Boubacar Boris Diop, Juliette Bour, Hélène Dumas, and many others. It was a remarkable masterpiece and a meaningful exchange of ideas, memory, and reflection. 🙏🏿🤍 @sciencespo #Kwibukast @MuseumIngabo , @ArtforMemories

Archive – 2024 @MuseumIngabo As we are temporarily closed, we look forward to our reopening. Throughout its journey, Museum Ingabo served as a place of creation, exploration, and artistic exchange for our community. More than a museum, it became a space where ideas were nurtured, stories were shared, and creativity found its voice. As we prepare for a new chapter, we cannot wait to welcome you into another space to explore, create, and imagine together once again.

Archive – 2025 During our time of service as a museum, one of our core missions was to share stories through art and help people better understand our culture and history. We were delighted to host the exchange program of @alueducation and the University of Washington @UofWA at @MuseumIngabo . As we reflect on these meaningful moments, we remain grateful for everyone who walked through our doors, engaged with our collections, and became part of our journey. We look forward to welcoming you again somewhere else, in a new space, with the same commitment to art, learning, and community.

THE RIVERS KNOW King NGABO, 2026 The rivers know where they come from. They rise from distant sources, mountains, valleys, hidden terrains, flowing north to south, east to west. Though shaped by different paths, they do not remain apart. They move toward one another, and ultimately, they meet in the same ocean. The rivers do not question their convergence.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS OF MUSEUM INGABO While @MuseumIngabo is temporarily closed, our space has remained a home for creative expression, historical reflection, and community engagement through contemporary art and storytelling. Over the years, we initiated three projects that worked closely with our community: 1. ART FOR MEMORIES ( @ArtforMemories )
A digital platform preserving the memory of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi through art. The project exists as both a mobile and web application: artformemories.com
Supported by BRD and IBUKA. 2. ABANART PROJECT
An initiative introducing art education to children in public schools across Rwanda. Through outreach programs in rural communities, we introduce children to art and creative careers. Selected students are later invited to Kigali for educational visits to Museum Ingabo, libraries, the Parliament of Rwanda, the Campaign Against Genocide Museum (CAG Museum), and other creative spaces. 3.INKURU LAB
An incubation program for young people in literary and performing arts. Through this initiative, we have hosted university students in creative arts for internships, offering them a month of learning and professional experience at Museum Ingabo. While the museum remains closed, we encourage everyone to download ART FOR MEMORIES and share it with friends and family. We look forward to reopening Museum Ingabo again, and continuing to serve our community through art, memory, and education.

H.E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the former President of Liberia said: ‘’The size of your dreams must always exceed your current capacity to achieve them. If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough.’’ We have been working on this vision of « MUSEUM INGABO, A Contemporary Art & Storytelling Museum for Humanity » and this is the architectural plan of what we hope to build in Rwanda 🇷🇼 More than a museum, it is imagined as a living cultural space: a Research Institute, a Library, Art Residencies, an Amphitheater, creative studios, and many other spaces dedicated to art, memory, dialogue, and humanity. What began as a dream is slowly becoming a vision with foundations. And SOON, it will stand, not only as a building, but as a home for stories, creativity, history, and future generations. It is a DREAM. And it will come true. @MuseumIngabo Architect designer : Jim MGS 🇫🇷 1/2

A Museum is beyond walls and buildings. It is about community, culture, history, art, and souls. A Museum shapes time not necessarily through millions of people, but through the few who return to transform their communities. Today marks the temporary closure of @MuseumIngabo in its current space, a place that remains far smaller than the vision we carry. But Museum Ingabo cannot be shut down by the loss of walls or buildings. Its spirit lives in memory, creativity, conversations, and the people it has touched. This is not the end. It is only a transition. See you soon, elsewhere. #MuseumIngabo Archives 🎥
