“This morning we held a bilateral meeting with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) secretary general Her Excellency Ms Rebeca Grynspan at State House, where we cordially shared a variety of views.
Zambia’s partnership with the UNCTAD remains unblemished and we want it to be more rationalised and consolidated so that it can deliver clearer economic outcomes for the benefit of our people.
Aside expressing our gratitude to UNCTAD for supporting Zambia during the debt restructuring period, we also thanked this inter-governmental organisation of the United Nations (UN) secretariat for the support it is rendering to our country to promote e-commerce, through the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) initiative. E-commerce must take root in our country as it cuts out numerous vices which hamper convenient trade.
The economic path that we are walking on is leading to a place where there are enough job and business opportunities for the people of Zambia, with reliable treasury incomes.”
