Today, we successfully concluded deliberations on the Division of Revenue Bill and agreed to allocate KSh 428 billion to county governments. This marks a significant milestone in strengthening devolution and ensuring that resources reach the grassroots for the benefit of our people.
The process has not been easy. It has taken us seven sittings, extensive consultations, and constructive engagement to arrive at this consensus. The agreement reflects our collective commitment to balancing national priorities while safeguarding the interests of counties.
As these funds are released, we urge Governors and county administrations to prioritize development projects and efficient service delivery. The people of Kenya expect tangible improvements in healthcare, roads, water, agriculture, education support, and other essential services. Every shilling allocated must translate into meaningful impact in the lives of wananchi.
As Parliament, we shall continue to diligently execute our oversight role to ensure public resources are utilized prudently, transparently, and for the intended purposes. Our commitment remains to protect the interests of taxpayers and to ensure that devolution delivers on its promise of bringing services closer to the people.
This agreement is a victory for cooperation, dialogue, and the shared goal of improving the welfare of all Kenyans.
