‘UNAUTHORIZED’ BLUE RIBBON HEARING CANCELLED? UPDATE: The so-called ‘blue ribbon committee hearing’ earlier announced by former Rep. Mike Defensor will not proceed at the Doublegem EDSA Gardens Events Place, the venue management said on Tuesday. “We would also like to reiterate that Doublegem EDSA Garden Events Place has no affiliation whatsoever with the organizers, participants, or subject matter of the event. Our role was solely that of an independent events venue provider,” it said. Acting Senate president Win Gatchalian earlier said that the upper chamber only recognized the blue ribbon committee led by Sen. Erwin Tulfo and other hearings conducted outside of it had no institutional authority. The Senate blue ribbon committee likewise said that Defensor's event was made without authority.
