Use of cheat codes or cartridges are absolutely and utterly banned. We'll know if you've done it and will expose you for the cheap fraud you are by having you run naked through the streets of Dundee singing, "I am Henry VIII, I am".

Although Dr Who getting cancelled was a bummer. And that Paul McGann film wasn't much cop. Still, I digress.

Excuse me a minute. I'm just going to light my fat Cuban cigar, rolled on the soft thigh of a virgin, with this modest bundle of £20 notes.

When Tim reviewed this on import back in issue 11, he threatened to "kick its face off" if it ever appeared as a PAL release.

Perhaps. N64 graphics don't have to be fuzzy, though. Look at Nintendo's games. Look at Mario 64. It's hard work trying to make the visuals sharper and maybe some developers haven't got the time or patience to do this. Fortunately, we have.

June. For many years the most important month on a gamers calendar. We'd wait eagerly for the E3 edition of our favourite magazine, usually published weeks later. Then if you were really lucky, you got to see it in motion, like I did in 1999 by ordering the E3 VHS from N64 magazine. The first time I saw Perfect Dark in action. June still holds this excitement of course, with this month's Summer Game Fest, Xbox Showcase, Playstation State of Play and Nintendo Direct all streamed live with stunning 4k footage. But there's something really nostalgic and mysterious about the old days, where seeing just a handful of blurred screenshots was enough to keep you in suspense. Sigh. Good times. Not better. But good.

Here's a noteworthy lesson for all you import freaks out there: with some games, it's definitely worth waiting for the English-language version to appear.

You may have heard that you can get a golden, 300mph super-jet ski by performing some cheat or another. This is not true. Which makes us sad.
