Aside from challenging nitrogen gas as a method of execution, Mr Lee’s Alabama jury voted 7-5 for life without parole. The judge alone sentenced him to death. Let that sink in. #nomoredeathrow #endthedeathpenalty
Let this serve as a reminder to respect the decision of juries. Jury chose life, Judge overrode them. #lifeforjeffreylee SCOTUS has denied efforts for the nitrogen hypoxia execution. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/sup…

It’s a good night in our movement to end the death penalty! #NoMoreDeathRow
JEFFERY LEE LIVES TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY! We would like to express our deepest appreciation for every single individual who had a hand in this outcome. The fight for Jeffery to receive executive clemency continues, but tonight we can sigh a breath of relief. "It's always a good thing when we get to go home from an execution vigil without anyone being killed. We've said all along that this is torture and a violation of the 8th Amendment. I trust this means the end of gas suffocation executions in the United States." ~ Abraham Bonowitz, DPA Executive Director

The U.S. Supreme Court has not paused or delayed a single execution since July 2024. More than 75 requests for a stay of execution were filed during that time. Every one was denied, most without comment and without any noted disagreement among the justices.scotusblog.com/2026/06/the-s…

Tennessee tried to execute Tony Carruthers today – and failed. We rejoice that his execution has been called off for now. Gov. Lee has issued a 1-year reprieve. This botched execution attempt is another example of the tortures of the death penalty. usatoday.com/story/news/nati…
