Future Irish were on campus Tuesday evening for Irish Up!, Notre Dame Prep’s annual welcome event for incoming middle school students. Students spent the evening getting to know their classmates, meeting student leaders and faculty, and experiencing some of the opportunities that make Notre Dame Prep’s middle school program unique. Activity rotations included coding, robotics, science lab experiments, interactive challenges and team-building activities, giving students an exciting introduction to life as an NDP student. The evening concluded with a Sweet and Social gathering, where new students connected with one another and celebrated the upcoming start of their Notre Dame Prep journey. We are excited to welcome the our new Fighting Irish and look forward to an outstanding year ahead. On Monday, Notre Dame Prep Head of School Andy Guest presented the championship trophy to the winning foursome of Brian Blakeslee NDP’18, Eli McLean NDP’18, Tommy Cavanaugh NDP’18 and Nick Evans NDP’18 following a competitive day at Copper Hills Golf Club. This week, Kerry Horton, Notre Dame Prep’s director of security and safety, attended the North American Active Assailant Conference (NAAAC) in Metropolitan Detroit alongside local law enforcement partners and public safety professionals from across North America. As the world’s largest conference focused on active violence prevention, preparedness, response and recovery, NAAAC brings together experts to examine lessons learned from past mass critical incidents and identify best practices for strengthening emergency preparedness. The conference also honored first responders lost in the past year. Participation in conferences like NAAAC reflects NDP’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement. While our safety and security program is already recognized as a leader in the independent school environment, we remain dedicated to evaluating emerging threats, strengthening partnerships with first responders and implementing the most current strategies to help keep our students, faculty, staff and campus community safe.
