💷 Today I am backing @duncancbaker's Banking Services (Post Offices) Bill.
❌ More than 8m adults would struggle to cope in a cashless society.
✔ This bill aims to legislate that high street banks must offer basic banking services through the @PostOffice branch network.

#PostOffices are a lifeline for local communities. Today, I presented a petition from the residents of #LinlithgowAndEastFalkirk asking the @GovUK to protect the most vulnerable in society by committing to a @PostOffice subsidy package for the next 3 years in its spending review.

Post offices are what keep many isolated communities from being cut off entirely. But @CitizensAdvice finds that the number of 'temporarily' closed post offices has more than doubled in the last 3 years.
I say 'temporarily' because 2 in 3 stay closed for over a year.

Barclays have reversed their decision to cease allowing customers to withdraw cash at post offices.
The NFSP has worked tirelessly in public and in private to help bring this about. We are delighted on behalf of subpostmasters and their customers.
