Today is Biobased Product Day. We are proud that MIRUMĀ®, CLARUSĀ®, PLIANTā¢, and TUNERA⢠are all part of the @USDA's BioPreferred Program, which certifies our products are derived from raw ingredients, such as plants and other renewable agricultural, marine, and forestry materials.
NFW follows three Ground Rules in everything we develop: start well, stay clean, end well. While nearly everything in the built world relies on some type of plastic that began as crude oil and that will become plastic pollution, we are establishing a new material reality. We believe all materials should begin and end as nutrients, ready for the next growth cycleātrue circularity.
NFW materials are biobased and plastic-free in pursuit of these principles.

I recently visited Natural Fiber Welding in Peoria to get an update on their innovative work to develop sustainable supply chains. @NFW_Tech empowers some of the largest companies in the world and I appreciate their commitment to the Peoria community.
Speaking with @bloombergtv, @StellaMcCartney had this to say about MIRUMĀ®: "It's natural, and it's absolutely incredible, and it's scalable ā and that is one of the most important questions for sure."
š Top Innovator Luke Haverhals, Founder and CEO of @NFW_Tech, has been selected for Business Insiderās Climate Action 30 list š

Luke's call to action, "I call on those brands who want to be leaders in sustainability to recognize the true cost of plastics & divest from toxic fossil-fuel-derived plastics. We can't afford not to. We must invest in high-performing materials from photosynthesis."
"The problem, however, is that most pleather, faux leather and vegan leather is a product of the fossil fuel industry, and there is no system in place to recycle it. We are simply creating a material monster, its production contributing to the climate crisis and its pollution destroying our ecosystems."
Thanks @tamsinblanchard and @guardian for shining light on the problem with plastic textiles! Our brand partners @StellaMcCartney and Camper also got a mention for their use of plastic-free, biobased MIRUMĀ®.
