#1 thing that makes me roll my eyes in recruiting are kids that say โIt matters where you play high school football atโฆโ
Thereโs 20,000 High schools that play football in the US. Youโre going to tell me, someoneโs whoโs recruited at that level, that all DI programs only recruit from the MaxPreps top 25 rankings? No. Look any roster of any P4 team and tell me how many of those players went to schools ranked in the MaxPreps top 25. Might be a few, but certainly not many.
Hereโs my point. Yes we recruited the top programs in the country, 100%. Theyโve been consistent in their development, dedication to the game, and itโs shown by their performance winning on the field and in the classroom. You winning the state championship or even going far in the playoffs means more film, stats, and opportunities against good competition.
However, 99% of our board were schools youโve likely never heard of. I know kids who played at the P4 level whose graduating class had less than 100 kids. College coaches and scouts donโt care what high school you play for - they just care whether or not you will fit into their system and if you help them win.
If you put in the effort, have quality film, go to camps, build relationships with coaches, take the questionnaires, dm coaches, and have the grades, youโll maximize your potential to play at the highest level. Not guarantee scholarship, but youโll always give yourself the best chance and thatโs all you can do. Do your best and let God handle the rest.
