As a small museum that is totally free to visit, raising funds is difficult, but @elonmusk has emailed me and all our money problems are gone! I would have settled for £10,000... *I know this is a scam.
The Vulcan to the Sky Trust has today launched a critical fundraising appeal to protect and preserve the legendary Avro Vulcan XH558. vulcantothesky.org/vulcan-ap…
The 🌧️ stopped long enough to get the grass cut. I really want to hold one more open day before the end of the year but getting a spell of dry weather is going to be few and far between.
So… tonight I got to meet the new head of the RAF - Air Chief Marshal Harvey Smyth and present him with a framed print of the Royal Observer Corps Spitfire. Which was nice. Pictured right to left, Myself, Harv, Tracey Malcolm and Paddy Malone.
Now open! Don't miss our temporary exhibition exploring the Royal Observer Corps over its 100 year history. From aircraft spotting in WW2 to plotting nuclear fallout in the Cold War.
Have a go at our family activities & see if you have what it takes to be a member of the ROC!
“You saw every bone, every bloodline, every sinew going through you hands with your eyes shut - a living X-ray.”
Christmas Island UK nuclear test veteran Brian Unthank tells #Newsnight he experienced his “first bomb” in just shorts and a t-shirt.
Thank you to everyone who made the trip out to the bunker yesterday. The replica emergency water tins flew off the shelf and out of the 10 I had in stock, I only have 3 left!
Our next planned open day will be on Saturday 26th July 12-3pm.
Just arrived at the bunker to get set up for the open day and it’s very wet - and it’s showing no signs of getting dryer. Going to make a decision in the next 30mins whether or not we go ahead with it.
