The towns of Highland and Munster will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony opening the "Bridges over Ditches" project. This takes place on Monday, June 15th at 1:30 PM. The attached map shows the location of the event. Walking and bicycling to the site is strongly encouraged.

In December of 1970, the Porter County Open Space Seminar was held featuring ten speakers from national, state and local levels. A major element was the role of the National Park Service in Porter County with the recent designation of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

In October of 1970, the LPCRTPC adopts “Guidelines for Growth”, the 2-county region’s first comprehensive plan. The plan described economy and resources, projected population growth, described existing land use, goals and policies, and set forth a plan for future development.
