It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Johan Nilsson, the founder of Elite Prospects and the person whose curiosity and passion for hockey planted the seed for everything we have built together. Born on the 9th of April 1981, Johan founded Elite Prospects in December 1999 at just 18 years old. What started as a vision driven by a deep love of hockey grew into the world’s leading hockey platform, a testament to the kind of person he was. Johan had a rare combination of qualities: sharp intellect, deep knowledge, and a kindness that made everyone around him feel valued. He could dive into the most complex problems with calm and clarity, and he brought that same thoughtfulness to the people he worked with every day. For the past nine years, Johan faced a battle with colon cancer with the same calm and strength that defined everything he did. His love of hockey was never just about the game. It was about understanding it fully, honestly, and in all its detail. That drive is woven into the DNA of Elite Prospects, and it will continue to shape the future of what we do. To know Johan was to be quietly inspired by him. We are all immensely grateful that we got to work alongside someone like him. Our deepest condolences go to his family and loved ones. He will be greatly missed, by all of us and by the global hockey community. Johan leaves behind his beloved wife and two children, aged two and eight.

What a final! Another early lead for Fribourg and Davos played catch-up once again, ending ahead on shots, chances and xG. But Fribourg's magic did the thing in OT.

Fribourg lives on to play a game VII. The early lead turned the game into a shutdown party, with very few real scoring chances on both sides. Davos still was clearly ahead at 5v5, but for a 6th game in a row, more xG does not mean winning 🧐

Game of the year? No doubt about it. HC Davos comes back from 0-3 to win Game V in OT. Fribourg had obliterated them in the 1st period, though, creating more xG that in game IV ! Davos found its way back as the game opened up more than usual. What a weird series.

My NHL site is now live! nhl.hockey-statistics.com/ There are many features that you can't find anywhere and I'm quite proud of this project. However, I could really use your help spread the word. Please share the link here on Twitter/X, but also on other platforms. It means a lot

Davos wins game IV 1-0 in Fribourg to tie the series. For the 4th time, the team with the most xG lost. Momemtum is everything. Slow game, with Davos defending with no offense for the last 40 minutes. Just 2xG for Fribourg but that's still 2 goals saved by Aeschlimann.

Fribourg wins game III in double overtime. Pretty simple scenario: Davos attacked pretty much all night (less in OT2), with 90 shot attempts versus 50. But the few chances Gottéron created were very dangerous, leading to a tie game at 5v5 on xG.

Fribourg-Gottéron takes Game I 3-2 in Davos. Fribourg was able to bury their chances whenever they got one, and held on in the 3rd period. Already a lot of drame, we are off to a good start!

Game 5 goes to @FrGotteron vs. @officialGSHC and Gottéron joins Davos for the 2025/26 Final! Another tight game: Geneva started well, but Fribourg was clinical. A tight and defensive series overall, especially at 5v5, but Fribourg seemed in control most of the time.
