OPERATION ROUTE 66 --
Operation Route 66 kicked off in February 2025 as a team effort to improve safety in the International District. Every week, around 100 officers from different agencies โ including the Bernalillo County District Attorneyโs Office, Sheriffโs Office, New Mexico State Police, Department of Corrections Probation & Parole, and Albuquerque Police Department (APD) โ come together to focus on areas with high crime. The goal is to reduce violent crime, target drug traffickers, and support community safety.
Total Arrests: 1,193 to date
Probation violators arrested: 335
64% of offenders arrested in the operation were on court-ordered supervision at the time of their arrest
Violent offenders arrested for homicide-related offenses: 11
Arrests for out-of-county warrants: 75
Arrests for out-of-state warrants: 7
Arrests for federal warrants: 22
Case Statuses:
489 new felony cases launched
52 felony convictions secured (to date)
214 cases currently in District Court proceedings
36 cases referred to diversionary programs
Evidence Seized:
115,988 fentanyl pills
2,301.91 grams of methamphetamine (over 2 kilograms)
4,324.5 grams of heroin (over 4 kilograms)
80 firearms
112 stolen vehicles
These results reflect the ongoing commitment of law enforcement to reduce violent crime, disrupt drug trafficking, and support community safety in Bernalillo County through strategic, collaborative policing.
