ALT Noor’s recent mappings and work is designed to help feminists and organizers navigate the complex landscape of rights and backlash, through mapping, defining, and understandings of fascism and feminism in the Global South and North. Noor is interested in offering a space for AWID participants to engage in a dialogue about their organized and mobilized resistances as a way to emphasize hope in a world that continues to generate crises and disasters all over. This constant era of emergency blocks genuine and transparent engagement with others to imagine a future, where sometimes this seems almost impossible to do, and this is why we want to carve a space within AWID to exactly practice this as an act of hope and an act of commitment. ALT Roots of Common Hate: SSEA & SWANA Cross-Regional Dialogue. Dec 2nd. Start from 4 PM. Location to be sent to registered participants.
ALT Join us in this cross-regional dialogue targeting AWID participants from SSE Asia and SWANA. We will use our Roots of Hate mappings as a way to break barriers, particularly in these moments of ‘uncomfortable solidarities and silences’. This dialogue is ignited by the release of the reports, acting as a 'spark' to facilitate a discussion and to co-learn about the nuances of our contexts as we fight fascist and fundamentalist actors, narratives and trends. This is not a launch or pre-launch; it is rather a way to be informed by our comrades and have a feedback loop engagement with the reports as a way to inform future projects and as a way to begin partnerships or seed in prospects of coalition-building.
ALT On the Ballot: Organizing Feminist Movements to Counter the Far-Right. Wednesday, Dec 4th. 4.15 to 5.30 PM. In Room 106, AWID Forum Venue.
ALT 2024 has been the year of elections across the world and newly elected far-right governments across the globe threaten progress for SRHRJ and human rights. A key component to countering the far right includes understanding how feminist movements influenced elections and how electoral outcomes impact them in turn. In this session, we hope to create a space to ask critical questions on how feminists engage in political processes and explore creative responses in solidarity across movements to oppose far right agendas.

ALT 2024 ha sido el año de las elecciones en todo el mundo y los gobiernos de extrema derecha recién elegidos en todo el mundo amenazan el progreso de los DSSR y los derechos humanos. Un componente clave para contrarrestar a la extrema derecha incluye entender cómo los movimientos feministas influyeron en las elecciones y cómo los resultados electorales les afectan a su vez. En esta sesión, esperamos crear un espacio para plantear preguntas críticas sobre cómo las feministas participan en los procesos políticos y explorar respuestas creativas en solidaridad entre los movimientos para oponerse a las agendas de extrema derecha.
