Good Morning to everyone except hitters that only hit front flips all offseason and then wonder why they can’t catch up to 85🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

Get comfortable with a batter in the box. “Pitchers practice their delivery enough.” If the end goal is to perform in game (get hitters out) then we need to make game situations part of our training. 1/3

One of the biggest things I’ve learned as a pitching coach is that the body leaves clues for what it WANTS to do. 🧵

“Hinge on the way out.” IMO, keep it simple and make the DELIVERY the basis for all “drills” 🤷🏻‍♂️ #Baseball #Pitching #RideTheSlide #PitchingMechanics

What can we learn from Bumgarner? Another not-so-normal looking delivery, but what he accomplishes can tell us a lot about clean upper-half rotation. (I won’t get into the lower half today, but I want to eventually)

Another great example of rotational sequencing, this time from Bob Gibson! Watch the middle of his body and see the relationship between it and the extremities. The outside mirrors the inside. This is a really cool angle that provides a unique view of a very efficient delivery

Not much to say here, this is just fun to watch! FB/CH Tunneling P.S. I wanted to do an overlay but I’m a noob and it looked like crap. Time to set up the tripod 🤷‍♂️😂

Honestly, the biggest mechanical flaw I see in amateur pitching delivers is the inability to SEQUENCE. In other words, guys throwing with the ARM either TOO MUCH or TOO EARLY. If the ARM is the focal point instead of the MIDDLE, there’s a good chance sequencing will go awry.

The Perfect Balance for Me When Training my Athletes: •Challenging them in the Skill Set •Encouraging them with Words The simple act of telling a guy, “I know you’re struggling right now but your process is right and this will make you better,” goes a long way. 🧠📝

Pretty much the best summary you’re gonna get in 240 characters or less
1. You can't unload/rotate effectively if you haven't loaded effectively. 2. Loading effectively requires removing slack/creating tension from the back hip to the ground. Rotating is therefore a product of learning to load (and unload) this back side tension.🔑

This isn’t me taking a side with either coach or instructor. My goal is simple: Continue to learn, Continue to strive to make an impact in the athlete’s lives I encounter each week, and try to be the person I needed when I was in HS/College, which includes being a GOOD PERSON

All I see in the hitting world now is, “Hitting coach X is a jerk! We need to make a difference” Their difference: “Let’s all cut up and attack Hitting Coach X to show him!” Stooping down to that level just makes the attacking group seem more immature 🤷🏻‍♂️ Focus on the athletes

How does he make throwing 99mph look so easy? Chase Dollander is a fantastic example of what we mean when we say “don’t mess yourself up.” Today I’d like to talk about the role his “arm action” plays in making his delivery so clean. 🧵

Even the funky guys #RideTheSlide! What I want to illustrate with Kershaw today is the idea that even though he looks very funky at first glance, he still hits a lot of the important positions that we talk about when looking at more “traditional” deliveries. 🧵

We’ve all had a coach say “Use your legs!” Let’s talk about what that means! What we can see here from Diaz is the idea of Coiling to Uncoil. In other words, setting himself up for efficient rotation, a core building block of velocity (and the TRUE source of hip/shoulder sep.)🧵

One of the most important pieces of the pitching delivery that is almost NEVER looked at! This clip of Spencer Strider is a great example of a quality fist move, one that sets him up to generate a lot of power as he moves down the mound. 🧵
