SATs week & Y6 enter a week of change. Breakfasts, posts of good wishes, abandonment of anything creative, silence in school, no assembly & for tests which test the school not the child. Is this environment getting the best out of them? Are they worth it? Too much pressure?

So, my son’s school have had “the call” and Ofsted will be in school tomorrow and Wednesday. As a result all of the “nice things” planned for tomorrow and Weds have been “put on hold” I am beyond fuming! I actually HATE @ofsted #Ofsted #Education #School #Teachers #Teaching

Anonymous Post – Transition from Head to Deputy Head I’m a second-year Headteacher and have made the decision to resign and pursue a Deputy Head role. The pressure has become overwhelming, and I no longer find fulfilment in my current position. I’m wondering how this career move might be perceived—will I still be competitive for Deputy Head interviews? Any advice or insights from those who have made a similar transition would be greatly appreciated.

Are there any schools out there who have experienced the new framework and would be happy to share an anonymised outline of either or both of the preparatory phone call and the timetable of the inspection. I think we could really help settle some nerves.

Feel sorry for middle leaders at Neale Wade Academy who were asked to give up their ppas during the @Ofstednews inspection to do extra patrols for behaviour. This is why the visits are never a true reflection of what actually happens in schools. It’s a farce.

Today we remember a hardworking, well respected head teacher, Ruth Perry, who is very much missed. Ofsted’s new framework does not address the harm inherent in a grades-based schools accountability system, and it does not address significant risks to staff wellbeing and safety. We call for a new system that is supportive, effective and fair – one that will support school leaders, not punish them.

One of the biggest issues in education… The people that make decisions for what is best for students are NOT teachers. Nor are teachers even asked. And neither are students/parents.

We’re weak with rude children & their rude parents. We cave. We indulge them. They take greater & greater liberties. We’ve created this scenario as a society over decades.
Abuse of headteachers over phone bans in their schools is 'completely unacceptable', the education secretary has said, after an MP reported that one leader was 'spat and sworn at' schoolsweek.co.uk/abuse-over…

Children’s first writing lessons happen not at a table but on the playground, the floor, or an easel. They happen when a child paints big circles with a roller, drags a stick through wet sand, or swishes a ribbon through the air.

When are we going to stand up and say no to these ridiculous formal tests and targets? These children are between 69 and 80 months old and will already have had three statutory assessments, even though they've only been in statutory schooling for five terms.

It's time to serve the country like Labour should do. Forget Reform, focus on the job and your work will be your biggest achievement...we need to reward the hardworking tax paying public...

And most of the senior leadership team were awarded bonus payments.
Ofsted has missed nearly all internal inspection targets this year, its staff are less positive about working there and one in 10 left, its annual report and accounts reveal schoolsweek.co.uk/missed-ins…
