The proportion of NZ research that' open is increasing slowly, but green OA continues to be under-utilised.

For all of you open science champions submitting Registered Reports, here are two things that I (and every other RR editor) LOVES to see in your initial Stage *2* submission:
Tip: When writing participant information sheets, carefully consider what data sharing policy will be most ethical for your study, and then tell your participants what you plan to do. 1/n
But DON'T just default to saying "The data will only be accessible to the research team" without further consideration. This is rarely the best option, and saying this in the PIS can result in researchers being unable to share data when it would otherwise be ethical to do so. 7/n
Data management plans can require a complex balancing of concerns around transparency, reproducibility, confidentiality, autonomy, risk to participants, and indigenous data sovereignty. This is hard, but best tackled when you tell your participants what they're signing up to! 8/n
Announcing our latest campaign, the Postprint Pledge for Linguistics!🥳
Sharing author accepted manuscripts is the biggest and simplest step anyone can take toward #OpenScience, yet it remains rare in #lingustics#research. Help us normalise it today!🙏

Our new study shows that data availability statements are not very useful; 1670 (93%) authors who indicated that data are available on request either did not respond or declined to share their data with us. Journal of Clinical Epidemiology: doi.org/10.1016/j.jclinepi.2…
