I decided to ring @samaritans for the first time for support when I was very distressed last night. They spent over half an hour talking to me despite how little I could communicate. I am alive today because of that phonecall. I cannot recommend them or thank them enough! 💚

Being able to take a copy of my book back to @BleasdaleRph ,who rehabilitated me when I was unwell in 2021 with #FND ,was so lovely. Without the staff there I would not be here to share my story today! Endure is now available online and in most major bookstores! ✨️

I've been absolutely amazed today after meeting my new GP. They actually listened, researched my illness, read my notes and took time to make phone calls to chase up gender clinic referrals made years ago. I feel so much more positive about seeing the doctor now when I need to 🙂

It just goes to show that when doctors listen and take their patients seriously, the appointments can be so much more worthwhile and patients like me won't wait until they the severity of their condition needs hospitalisation to recieve support. #GP #NHS

If “getting over it” was a viable option for anyone suffering from depression (or any other mental illness), don’t you think they would have done it already? Nobody wants to suffer mentally, and if you’ve been there, you’d understand why.

Recently, a new report found that the UK is among one of the least friendly and least welcoming countries for trans and gender diverse people in the world The Ipsos LGBTQ pride 2023 survey highlighted how most British people agree trans people face discrimination in the UK 🧵

By the time a trans person comes out to you, they have already done hours, weeks, and YEARS of research, questioning and soul searching. Don't say "are you sure?" Say "how can I help?"

Please only take new meds or a new dose for the first time when you have people around you. My antidepressants being increased landed me in hospital last night with heart issues having had none previously. Be safe 💜 #meds

Disabled people are actually the least lazy people I know because most of them have to work twice as hard to do the same stuff as non-disabled people whilst fighting inaccessibility, discrimination and their own bodies.

I am so tired of being misgendered by people paid to care for me in my own home. They've visited me 3x daily for 2 months and they still can't seem to get it right after being corrected multiple times! What happened to patient centred care?

Yesterday I was trapped under my wheelchair when it flipped over during seizures...today I smashed a glass because I dropped it during seizures...I need wrapping up in bubble wrap 🤦🏽‍♂️😂 just a day in the life when FND flares up!

Mental illnesses literally alter your brain chemistry and functioning and compromises your ability to make decisions... So maybe telling mh patients that they "have capacity" and it's their "choice" what they do, is actually wrong. Don't dismiss somebody who is asking for help!

Remember, just because someone is smiling on the surface it doesn’t been they are not hurting deeper down inside. The mask of depression can be so misleading…
