β¨ Top Ten Most Important Collab Tips β¨
(imo)
- Be on the same page! Create a group DM and chat throughout the day or days leading up to collab. Itβll help set the tone!
- Donβt over talk the lobby. Most games have toggle mute or similar, if youβre REALLY chatty with your audience then please utilize it, especially* with new or large groups.
- Respect Boundaries! Start with a baseline and work your way up to lewdness/flirting/joking/sarcasm etc. Everyone has different levels of interaction.
- Donβt self promote TOO hard. Having a good time is priority. You can get yourself known by being funny, good at the game, helpful, or some other interactive bit.
- Tag everyone properly!
Use correct names, handles, and links. Promote the collab like it is a group effort, not just your stream. (As a viewer itβs annoying not to have easy access to links/tags)
- Avoid inside jokes from outside this group/collab. Build new funny moments instead of rehashing old ones that donβt include everyone there now so people donβt feel excluded.
- Avoid surprise guests. Donβt invite other people into the call, lobby, or VC without asking the host and group on the side in DMs. Donβt put people on the spot.
- DONT PUT PEOPLE ON THE SPOT! Donβt ask intrusive/inappropriate questions that make people feel like they HAVE to say yes or talk about it because all eyes are on them.
- Donβt Rage. Itβs not fun for anyone, and everyone feels awkward. Have some fun, but if you donβt like how people are playing the game/fooling around, bow out respectfully without blaming anyone.
- Donβt compare streams/numbers. Youβre there collaboratively, not to compete, itβs just weird to talk about it publicly with the audience watching. (unless itβs educational and consensual)
Overall youβre there to be an entertainer. That means not only must you put on the best show, you have to lift others up with you and play to their strengths too. Sometimes the spotlight CAN be on you, but a good collab has everyone working together to be center stage taking turns. You are the main cast, not the main character.
