NEW: A Fulton County judge threw out a conspiracy-fueled lawsuit seeking to open Georgia's election-night operations center — where votes are received and published — to far-right observers. The GOP-led effort was widely seen as an attempt to invite partisan interference in the state's elections. democracydocket.com/news-ale…

NEW: Last week, over 100 FBI agents targeted a voting rights group that helps Ohioans register to vote. While its drawn far less attention than probes involving high-profile figures, it's just as important to defend the under-the-radar groups doing the daily work of democracy, Marc Elias writes. democracydocket.com/opinion/…

Peppermint didn’t mince her words when performing at Rise Up, Sing Out on Sunday, 14 June. The concert for the First Amendment featured a range of performances taking place at the Town Hall in New York and was designed as a night of song, solidarity and action to celebrate American freedoms. During the evening, Peppermint took to the stage to remind people that trans rights are human rights. She said, “These attacks on the trans community, they serve as a distraction from the immense hoarding of wealth and resources by billionaires and now trillionaires. A distraction from the failures of this government to protect its people, instead of harming them.” She continued to say: “These discriminatory attacks on the trans community also distract us from the very lopsided weight of anti-trans violence”. 📷 Getty
