I shalln’t give him the satisfaction of hits to his tweet but in answer to the sneering Daily Mail typist who, at news of his death, suggested Hockney was merely “good at PR” but that his “painting did not really merit these wild plaudits”, open your eyes and your closed mind.

The man filming this is a vile, repulsive entitled man. He has no right to be there and yet says the boring "don't touch me" line repeatedly. He doesn't have the right to try the food or even be there. He's a nasty bully. Just leave when you are told.

There is a massive central point that this article fails to mention. Many industries - including my own, are based on value (in my case, the value of human emotional experience in the listener). AI's value has been trained illegally on our collective work. theguardian.com/technology/2…

You loathed Obama because he’s Black. We loath Trump because he’s a 34x convicted felon and adjudicated rapist who lacks class, compassion, humility, empathy, understanding, kindness & common sense. I could go on or are you late for your KKK roundup?

Last night I became a new patron of the Wilkie Collins Society. I did my DPhil on him 30 years ago so I’d love to know who’s working on him or reading him now - with a view to organising an event. Who’s a fan? (And here’s a link to the Society website.) wilkiecollinssociety.org

“Daddy, my daddy!” Jenny Agutter’s cry at the station is unforgettable to anyone who knows the 1970 British masterpiece (I don’t use that word lightly): The Railway Children directed by Lionel Jefferies. It’s his centenary and 29 years ago I talked to him. independent.co.uk/arts-enter…

"If asked, he'd tell you the important thing in his work was content, not camera angles." Fascinating interview with director Ken Loach in a 1971 @RadioTimes. Ken Loach Night is on BBC Four tonight from 10.05pm.

😱😱😱 And just like that, it’s completely VANISHED from the media. A sitting congressman, Ted Lieu, said on the record the Epstein files are being blocked because they show Trump raped and threatened to kill children. Lets make this viral again 👇

A new poll of ~3000 British adults shows overwhelming support (net 53) for permission & payment being required if AI companies want to train on copyrighted work. There are different people around Putin. Half of them want to continue this war and the other half want to stop it. Businessmen understand that the Russian economy is in a terrible situation. If Western countries – Europe, Canada, and the U.S. – don’t lift their sanctions, put more pressure on the Russian shadow fleet and other sectors, and Ukraine stays strong on the battlefield, then we will be closer to peace. I told this businessman, who came to deliver the message about a potential framework of diplomatic negotiations, that we were ready to speak from the very beginning. We didn't want this war, and we want to stop it. Yesterday I told the journalists that in Anchorage, Russia and the U.S. decided to speak about Ukraine without Ukraine. It was a mistake, especially for America, because Putin weakened the U.S. position. I think he was lying to the President of the United States. Anyway, we are ready to speak, but we won’t give up our territory. From an interview with The Guardian. (2/3)
