It’s been about a month since I went to Mastodon. It’s much better for me.
Also, I only follow people I’ve met. Without anyone with an agenda to engage me, my feed takes 3 minutes and all of it enriches my life.
Only coming back to ask: why are you still here?

tbh I expect they are going to bumble along with a lot more downtime and the engs will get used to shutting down and restarting services in sequence, with throttled % of users
this is usually the last resort and it will become their 1st resort

I'm seeing journalists and activists advising each other to delete their DMs. This probably won't help
I'd suggest a GDPR request, but I can't find an email address or web form for that (gdpr.twitter.com doesn't help)

Why do we call these “illegal police stations”?
If we had any other group enforcing their will with threats of violence or expropriation we’d call it organized crime

At my engineering school, it was typical to do all-nighters, so I tried the same thing everyone else was doing on team projects when I didn't know any better.
The 2nd time I tried it, I noticed that something that should've taken minutes took hours.

This is not a startup running out of money, about to go bankrupt if not for this manic sprint.
It’s the worlds richest person doing this because he can. So he does.

Being a technologist in a downturn, in my experience, isn't that bad, if you didn't have crazy high expenses.
A person who works in some tech-adjacent way is more fucked. They have acquired real skills but they aren't perennially valuable
