Northcote Road w'end pedestrianisation is a win-win for residents & businesses, with many great eateries & small business shops there. Now all we need is a @Conservatives gov't to abolish business rates for retail & hospitality small businesses to revitalise them all week long.
☀️ Weekend pedestrianisation is back on Northcote Road! From 11 July, enjoy more space to stroll, shop & socialise ☕ ✨ Expect outdoor dining, independent shops & a buzzing community vibe. See you there ➡️ orlo.uk/G86bt

The resignations of the Defence Secretary and Armed Forces Minister confirm what I've being saying since last year, including at the London Defence Conference in April. We need to get serious. We need to rearm. The @Conservatives will cut welfare spending to fund our military.

John Healey, the former Defence Secretary, has acted honourably by resigning. Keir Starmer is too weak to cut welfare and fund defence - as I told him yesterday at PMQs. Only the Conservatives have a plan to put our national security first.

I have spent my political career fighting against identity politics when it came from Labour, Lib Dems, or the SNP, and I will do exactly the same against identity politics when it comes from Reform UK. The answer to Black Lives Matter is not a White Lives Matter born of the same racial grievance. To fix this the Conservatives will stand up for the silent majority who want order, fairness, common sense, and one law for everyone.

Good to read in this report by @spectator's John Power that @KemiBadenoch reaffirmed in last night's interview with @ShippersUnbound that there are to be no pacts between @Conservatives and @reformparty_uk
Kemi Badenoch was interviewed last night by The Spectator‘s Political Editor, Tim Shipman, in front of a live audience at Church House in Westminster. Much of what the Conservative leader said was a retreading over familiar ground. The Conservative party was a ‘distressed asset’ when she inherited the leadership, she said, but is now getting a second hearing. Badenoch said, of the economy, that the country must cut spending before it cuts taxes, and that it is time that the government gets out of the way of business. The Conservative party was ‘for the people who get up every day’, she insisted, and that what is needed in politics is more common sense. ✍️ John Power Article | spectator.com/article/what-k…

On w/end when @KemiBadenoch's leader approval rating in @OpiniumResearch is on a strong rise, great to launch our @Lambeth_Tories campaign for Chris Cousins in @lambeth_council's Streatham St Leonard's ward by-election, caused by former @Lambethgp candidate not taking up her seat

Great to see this latest Opinium poll for @ObserverUK show @KemiBadenoch 's approval rating back up at its late Apr level This is consistent with what @Conservatives are hearing on the doorsteps, with many examples locally of Kemi's appeal crossing previous political allegiances
🚨 Latest Opinium @ObserverUK poll 🚨 Kemi Badenoch's approval rating has risen to net -4 (her joint highest rating since becoming leader) 🌳 Badenoch -4 🔶 Davey -4 ➡️ Farage -19 🌍 Polanski -19 🌹 Starmer -42

We must never forget the D Day landings on 06.06.44 & the c.5k Allied troops who died that day of the 156k who stormed the 5 Normandy beaches, after indications of Calais "In wartime truth is so precious that she must always be attended by a bodyguard of lies" Winston Churchill

No wonder @piersmorgan has rec'd much v ve reaction to his i'view with @KemiBadenoch A wide-ranging 40-min i'view focussing on home & int'l affairs and even probing Kemi's "cultural Christian" pos'n It demonstrates why Kemi is the most impressive Opposition Leader for 50 y'rs
Been getting a lot of very positive reaction to my extended interview with @KemiBadenoch - which has now had over 600k views. Her party may still be very unpopular but Ms Badenoch is getting increasingly popular.

Today I have met Lucy, Mark and Katie, Henry Nowak’s mother, father and stepmother. Their courage is extraordinary. They have endured the most appalling loss, it is a life sentence for them. They have also faced the agonising decision to release the harrowing body-worn camera footage, knowing how painful it would be and how strongly people would react. They did so because they want truth, accountability and change. They have asked that we work across political parties and religions to rebuild trust in the police. That trust has been broken because of what happened, and I agree with them on that. We must also be prepared to examine, carefully and seriously, religious practices or exemptions that permit the carrying of dangerous weapons in public, and other activities that are not conducive to the public good. We also need to examine where the law needs to change. Henry’s family do not want anger to tear communities apart. They are a family who have friends across faith and race, and so did Henry. His family want his memory to help bring our society together. Everyone knows I have strong views about how we should deal with equality under the law. What the family agreed with me on is that we need to bring common sense back, and that is what we should all be fighting for. I promised the family that we will work to ensure there is a positive legacy for Henry out of this tragedy. That is my focus now.

So very sad to have learnt of the untimely death of a great friend and colleague, Sir Alex Younger. We were at St Andrews University together, had parallel careers and retired together in autumn 2020. He was an outstanding national security leader. I will miss him terribly. Love and condolences to Sarah and the family.

.@KemiBadenoch's response to @Nigel_Farage video suggesting responding "with pure cold rage": "Nigel Farage is wrong. We should respond not with rage, but with courage.. I've spoken about what the police call their anti-racism training and how it can actually be racist itself"
Every life matters. One law. One standard. For everyone.  This is about justice, for Henry, for his family and for all our children. They deserve better.

"White, black, whatever religion, we are one culture." Former Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith praises Kemi Badenoch's response to Henry Nowak's death, pitting it against Nigel Farage's statement, which he said appeared to ‘stir things up rather than calm them down’.

Incredibly, 90% of the new Labour MPs at the last election came from a trade union, charity or public-sector background. Barely 1/5th of the Cabinet has any private-sector experience. In the Shadow Cabinet, 3/4 of us do. That distinction matters. The skills Labour MPs have acquired are in lobbying for more funding, campaigning for more benefits or more red tape. Britain needs a new generation of politician. Only the Conservative Party can build a team for the economic war effort required after Burnham/Starmer have finished this catastrophic experiment. We will need to fix every aspect of our system at once. There will be no kicking decisions into the long grass, only rolling our sleeves up and getting to work. If you've ever thought about a career in politics but decided it was too risky or you wouldn’t fit in, now is your time.…We are looking for people from every walk of life who know how to get stuff done. In return, I will make politics work for you. Britain does not lack talent. It lacks a system that draws that talent into public life. Join my team and help us get Britain working again. My piece in the @Telegraph below👇
"Politics shouldn’t be a last refuge for those who have done nothing else. It should be a duty taken up by people with busy schedules and something to offer," writes @KemiBadenoch. Read more from the leader of the Conservative Party here 👇 telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/05…

Delighted to have been appointed as the new Cabinet Member for Transport on @Wandsworth Borough Council. The incoming Conservative administration will deliver real results for residents. Looking forward to getting to work! @wandbc
