Result - Neilston 2 - 2 Glasgow Uni. Overall not good enough today, horrible start to the game conceding two poor goals five minutes apart both of which we should have done much better. Handed ourselves a lifeline from a Ryan Anderson low drilled cross to the back post for David Miller to fire home and get us in at the break 2-1 down. Second half very similar to the first scrappy with chances either end both keepers making some great saves. Second goal for Neilston came from Zander McGeown flying into two tackles winning the ball back and finding Aidan Green who back heeled it through to put Wully Duncan 1v1 , Great assist and finish. We Finished the stronger team chasing the 3 points but a draw was probably a fair result after all. Result - Clydebank 2 - 0 Neilston. Credit to Clydebank who played some good stuff on Saturday and well deserved there win. 0-0 at halftime we were well in the game but just couldn’t get the ball down and play our usual football, two goals of similar fashion late in the game confirmed defeat, a bad day at the office but we put it behind us and look to kick on after the Christmas break. Result - @Valeoflevenafc 0 - 3 Neilston. Solid performance from the boys in a game we felt we dominated start to finish creating plenty chances with some great passages of play throughout the match. First goal came from the penalty spot after a lovely defence splitting pass from the Maestro Paul Mclean through to Wully Duncan who was fouled inside the area with Wully Stepping up and converting to open the scoring, Neilston kept on knocking at the door but just could not get the ball in the back of the net credit to the Vale of Level goalkeeper who made some great saves. Second goal came 15 mins into the second half with an absolute rocket from Steven Cunningham top bins after some great play from John McCarron, Well deserved from the big man who gave the Vale defence a torrid time all afternoon. Neilston kept on pushing to put the game to bed and soon wrapped up the three points thanks to a David Miller header with just ten minutes left to play. Neilson 3-2 @BaljaffrayAFC . Man to man a dominant performance from the boys in red and white. We controlled the game from the first whistle to the last and come away with a win that was much more comfortable than the score line suggests. Neilston took the lead early on in the first half after a wave of pressure against the baljaffrey defence resulting in 4 corner kicks one after another a Big Matty bullet header opened the scoring, then soon after made it 2-0 in similar fashion OG from a corner kick. Baljaffrey pulled one back on a good counter attack leaving us in at the break 2-1 up. Second half was a similar story to the first we scored Early on a lovely ball from John McCarron puts Wully 1v1 and you know what happens next .. 3-1 Neilston, we had two or three good chances to kill the game off but a few good saves from the Baljaffrey keeper kept the scoreline closer than it should have been. The Visitors managed to pull one back in the last kick of the game with the match ending thereafter. Shout out to the Referee who we thought put on a great performance considering there was members from the Visiting club recording footage on a mobile phone running to the referee at HT and FT trying to influence decisions in what is up there with the most bizarre things we’ve seen in amateur football. Result - Duncanrigg 2 - 2 Neilston. Scrappy game all round on a tough surface to play on but one we felt we should have won given the chances we created. Great play early in the first half from Wully Duncan to set up the opener for Ryan Anderson to slot home and put us 1-0 up. The home team went on to equalise shortly after and then took the lead in the second half only for Ryan Anderson to find the back of the net again and level the game. We had plenty chances to kill the game off although we had to rely on our keeper after a good few counter attacks from Duncanrigg but as always Skoosh there to save his teammates. Last seconds of the game a tremendous Wully Duncan Overhead kick rattled off the top of the post and out for a goal kick which summed up our luck on the day. Result - Cambusdoon 2 - 1 Neilston Defeat in the cup in a very open game of football, First half we weren’t at our best and went in at the break 1-0 down, we scored early on in the second half to get back into it then felt we dominated the remainder of the game but just couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net, with ten minutes remaining Cambusdoon scored after a mix up in defence and went on to hold on for the victory.
