It has to be said that the @lottocycling_ points farming journey to Hainan was an absolute waste of time. Despite Veistroffer doing his absolute best, they should have taken a guy who has a punchy uphill sprint. Now you have 10 GC points and 5 from Steffen's sprint 🤷

My two cents, yes De Lie leaving sounds like a big loss, but it will be far easier for Lotto to develop new talent with a similar profile (Grisel, Fedrizzi, etc) than it will be to replace Lennert Van Eetvelt.

Lennert has had a lot of bad luck in his short career, but the highlights were quite impressive. A quick look at the U23 team also shows no climbers of his potential. Van Gils and Driesen are decent, but not great. Donie is disappointing. Eeman is great but not a GC guy.

Van Eetvelt has got that invaluable combination of climbing endurance with a punch. So yeah, he's probably leaving anyway because there's zero support in his races. Zimmerman is the only one who could go somewhere in a multi-col stage. But the loss will be real.

Procyclingstats is literally becoming unusable if you don't want to pay for a subscription. Every second click prompts an add. I understand the need to make a profit but I can hardly think of any site I use where it's this bad.

Het waren mooie jaren als @lottocycling_ fan, maar dankzij het geweldige management en de houding van bepaalde sponsors is de ploeg nu op sterven na dood. Toch bedankt aan de renners, aan @KWouwer @nikolas_maes, de rest van de staff en vrijwilligers voor de laatste jaren.

Het einde van het Lotto tijdperk in de koers komt steeds dichterbij. Er is geen geld en voorlopig komt er ook geen geld. De renners kiezen eieren voor hun geld (geef ze eens ongelijk).

Voor iemand zegt: "Ja, maar volgend jaar is de ploeg misschien toch terug WorldTour". Zonder voldoende budget gaat dat niet. Je rijdt geen drie grote rondes en alle klassiekers met een halve beloftenploeg.

Het was fijn en soms spannend om de voorbije drie jaren fan te zijn van @lottocycling_ maar 2026 lijkt het verhaal van de comeback voorbij. De sponsors zijn weg(gejaagd?), veel talent is weg en de twijfel is erin geslopen.

Zelfs al halen ze de WorldTour in 2026 dan is er het budget noch de renners om een volledig WorldTour programma te overleven. Ik hoop op een deus ex machina, maar vrees dat het wachten op Godot zal zijn.

Als @maximvangils zich zorgen maakt over zijn imago, zou hij misschien al kunnen beginnen met eerlijk te zijn en toe te geven dat hij voor het geld gekozen heeft in plaats van duizend-en-één excuses te laten optekenen in de pers.

Has there ever been a worse transfer season for a team that isn't folding soon?
Fact that it's mostly big teams stealing those riders means the team is still very good at developing riders tho.
