Some things that I want to happen in West Bengal. ●A very large Netaji statue in the heart of Kolkata. ●A memorial built in a grand architectural style showcasing the lifestories of the thousands of Bengal revolutionaries ●Honoring the valour & sacrifice of Bengali Hindu Kings

Bengalis have not forgotten their 'Ghorer Chhele', their very own, their Subhas. In 2022, I attended one of the talks of @anujdhar and @chandrachurg . Just before the starting of the session, the beautiful 'Subhasji' song was played and every single person stood up in respect 🙏

All these matters concern the national security of India; they are not local matters. If the demography changes in Assam and Bengal in the next few decades, India will not remain the India that we know today.

"Bengal of course has other attractions, but, apart from that, this rustic hilly country (Darjeeling) is incomparable. Verily, the Himalayas are the abode of the Gods – a paradise..." Netaji writes to his dear friend Hemanta Sarkar when he was about 18 years old. #Darjeeling

Was just re reading the entire story of how the Brits got to know of Bagha Jatin (Jatindranath Mukherjee) & his compatriots..it's sad to know that the local Odia people of Balasore like Chintamoni Sahoo and others informed the Brits. Odia princely states were also involved in it.

Bengal has done what Bengal's Lord, the Lord of India, indeed the Lord God of all of this Creation, whom the Vedas call 'Purushottama', has ordained her to do through the ages, through ups and downs, through victory and defeat: To sing the Glory of the Supreme Divine unapologetically. We shall now sing, every Bengali child shall now sing: "তুমি বিদ্যা তুমি ধর্ম্ম তুমি হৃদি তুমি মর্ম্ম ত্বং হি প্রাণাঃ শরীরে ৷ বাহুতে তুমি মা শক্তি, হৃদয়ে তুমি মা ভক্তি, তোমারই প্রতিমা গড়ি মন্দিরে মন্দিরে ৷" We shall also sing out loud: "পতন-অভ্যুদয়-বন্ধুর পন্থা, যুগ-যুগ ধাবিত যাত্রী। হে চিরসারথি, তব রথচক্রে মুখরিত পথ দিনরাত্রি।      দারুণ বিপ্লব-মাঝে   তব শঙ্খধ্বনি বাজে                সংকটদুঃখত্রাতা। জনগণপথপরিচায়ক জয় হে ভারতভাগ্যবিধাতা!      জয় হে, জয় হে, জয় হে, জয় জয় জয়, জয় হে॥"
Dear Lord, what has Bengal done?

My latest EAC-PM working paper: "How to do Process Reform: Case Study of IEPFA" (co-authored with @AakankshaArora5). The paper lays out step-by-step how process reforms were implemented at IEFPA over the last one year. As a result, the system is now able to do more approvals in a month than it was earlier doing in a year. Indeed, the backlog will be fully cleared in the next six months. This case study is part of our effort to document government re-engineering efforts so that they can be taught and replicated across the system. eacpm.gov.in/wp-content/uplo…

Ever heard the term #Akalbodhana? That’s when Shri Ram worshipped Ma Durga for defeating Ravan. That’s when (the month of Ashwin) Bengalis celebrate Durga Puja. Now if Bengalis are shouting for Shri Ram, just imagine how much louder they will be chanting Ma Durga’s name. And Ma Kali will take care of the demons who incite people by spreading misinformation. #Bengal #MaDurga #ShriRam #MaKali
Will Durga be replaced with Ram? #Bengal

Bengal’s politics always had a very strong component of nationalism rooted in its history and culture. Even among non-communist leftists. This was very cleverly and efficiently altered by the communist movement. The BJP has now got a golden opportunity to rework on that. Not by mere mechanical changes in textbooks, not merely by inviting guest speakers, but by promoting a structured discourse and debates. Otherwise any effort is likely to produce only temporary results. The idea is to change the worldview and mindset. Not to accumulate a bunch of sycophants. It is a long term project.

"The Renaissance Required in West Bengal" - my article in today's New Indian Express where I argue that Bengal's economic revival depends on recapturing its civilizational identity after decades of deliberate manipulation. As the civilizational roots of Bengalis were deliberately chipped away, it left an intellectual and socio-cultural vacuum. The sneering of “aanteil” intellectuals cannot fill the emptiness. This is the source of Bengal’s political anarchism, mindless trade unionism, militant student activism and deadwood intellectualism; all merely trying to fill that hole in the heart. As an aside, a similar story can be told of another state - Punjab, the other state that was Partitioned. newindianexpress.com/opinion…

A Sacred Land Reclaimed : There comes a moment in a nation’s history that plays a decisive role in shaping its future. That moment has come with BJP’s emphatic win in Bengal. The State is coming back into the fold of uncompromising nationalism after over a century. How a land that produced spiritual & nationalist giants like Vivekanand, Aurobindo, Pravananand, Netaji Bose, SP Mukherjee, Rabindranath Tagore & countless revolutionaries like Khudiram Bose who forced the British to unite divided Bengal in 1911 , slipped into the hands of pseudo-nationalists & anti-Bharat forces is some kind of a mystery. The roots are in Congress’s compromising nationalism that led to phenomenons like Muslim Appeasement & ‘ Non-violence at any cost’ which destroyed the State’s virile immunity system which in turn was fully exploited by Jinnah to divide Bengal & our nation. This victory coupled with BJP’s equally emphatic win in Assam - also a state facing threats from intruders like in Bengal - under the most dynamic leadership of @himantabiswa — has proved that the forces of nationalism will lead the nation against the threat of divisive forces. Clearly, there is still a lot of stuff left in Bharat or that it has gained in past 11 years under PM @narendramodi ‘s leadership than that meets the eye. But on the flipside there is also a challenge in how to restore the legacy of these great men. Clearly, short-cuts won’t work, long-term vision based on the principles of these great man will. Ideological commitment has no option is what the new rulers of Bengal will have to remember. People might be surprised how Veer Savarkar figures in the attached photo. Well, the answer is that, apart from Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, it was Savarkar who played a key role in saving half of Bengal. And not many know that it was Savarkar who brought Mukherjee into active Hindutva politics in 1939. True history remains a most interesting subject.
